Excessive nose dive during braking

Just purchased a new to me 2014 S10 non-ES. On the test ride and the way home, I noticed what I would call an excessive nose dive when applying the brakes. Now this is not my first rodeo on a motorcycle. However this is my first S10. The front brake seemed a little touchy or maybe the nose dive exacerbated the situation where it appeared to be touchy.

Would this be an indication of the front suspension being too soft? What would you recommend? I'm wondering if I need to adjust the compression level on the forks. Ya...na...?
