I have to agree with you on this one. My Vee seemed to have a little more power on take off. I could twist the throttle and the front end would lift with ease but with the ST it is a little more effort. When on a trail with a log crossing it, it the Vee would go over easier by cracking the throttle and lobing the front tire over it.

That's not really apples to apples now, is it?

Obviously, if the traction control is not turned off the Tenere's front wheel is hard to lift. Touring mode also slows throttle response. You didn't mention whether it was S-TC off or not.

Even so, a chain holds a mechanical advantage over a shaft if you are after wheelies. They can have the same acceleration and top speed. But the shaft won't climb the back gear the way the chain will pull. The reason is based in measuring inches from the center of the axle to the diameter of the sprocket vs inches to the diameter of the gear.

I have not done any real off road but I can tell you that the Tenere is one thing Smooth works for what it was built just fine. Take my big arse down the road at 75 or 80 just fine
I sold my Crotch Rocket and if that is what I wanted I would buy another one . This bike for what it is is one thing
Smooth

Stock bike. Run done with TCS Off (the only way they could do it)

3rd gear

4th gear

5th gear

6th gear

Vermogen = HP
Koppel = Torque

The dip in 3rd gear around 4k rpm was caused by the tire slipping.

Result is a Max HP of 96,57 in 6th gear and 102,84Nm in 6th gear also at the rear wheel

Okay here is my Dyno run sheet. To answer checkswerks the bike is always in sprot mode and when I am on dirt the TC is mostly in the off setting.

Were the tires stock or something closer to a knobby? Very hard to get good hookup with more aggressive tread.

First, your dyno should be this much lower than the German ones because of the 11 degree and other atmospheric differences. Even so, it does appear that in stock lower gear for the Tenere, the DL1000 has more horsepower but less torque up to about 4,000 rpm. It helps answer why the DL1000 seems to come out of the hole stronger in a drag race. We have seen that in racing against our VStrom, too.

But in keeping this somewhat invalid comparison going, the Suzi gets spanked badly without the restrictions in the lower gears. Which is just what the mod to the clutch switch or flashing the ECU would do. My son has a baaaad surprise coming which should be fun. ;)

Thanks for the clarification and dyno sheet.

Ruck Me Funnin! Geezuz!

Screw the dyno charts, screw everything.

Rode mine home from work tonight, broke free from the last asshat cager jamming up the lane and whacked it. Next thing ya know all the really small shat in the mirror was invisible. Dang I love whacking this thing. I have the ECUnleashed, co adj etc. That made it better but the fekken thing was NEVER short on power.

So while I am spending my Memorial Weekend in Mexico City Leaving Friday AM). literally locked in a customer site every evening, why not go ride em and enjoy! And of course let me know what I am missing in the US.

<end rant>

Any one going to Road America for AMA Superbike Double Header? I'll be hangin by 5 all weekend, with the faster Black Bich of course.

Hehe!

A guy I work with commutes like his ass is on fire, and if you're in front of him hell latch on to your tailgate. I've tried using not-so-subtle hints to get him to stop, but the effect doesn't last long. He he rolled up behind me the other day while I was riding my s10 and it felt great erasing him with my right hand.

Had to tell him 'don't go there' when he tried to preach hyopcritically about speeding. He just didn't like getting owned. ;D

Why on earth would you tailgate someone when you could PASS them?

I view commuting as "a ride" on the way to or from work, not "riding to work".
