Dirt Bike Trailer?

I'm looking for something to haul around my KLX. I'm still considering the hitch mount carriers, but I don't care for the idea of 300 lbs hanging off the rear end of my bumper. I'd prefer a small trailer.

Which brings me to my question - does anybody know of a cheap, single bike trailer? I'm starting to cruise the web on this, looking for something small, even if I have to put a Harbor Freight chock on it for $50 that's no biggie, just want it cheap yet reliable. If anybody built anything or has anything like this please share.

Grab the trailer at Harbor Freight as well!

http://www.harborfreight.com/1195-lb-capacity-48-inch-x-96-inch-heavy-duty-foldable-utility-trailer-with-12-inch-wheels-90154.html

Under $300, folding, 12" wheels (just re-grease the wheel bearings). Add a sheet of green plywood, the wheel chock and some anchor points and you should be good to go.

I have a 10 year old Snowbear 4' x 8' that I picked up at Costco. It hauls bikes (wheel chock added), wood, dirt, etc, etc. Just be ready to lend it out! ::024::

if you don't like the idea of 300lbs hanging off the hitch don't go putting a trailer on it anytime soon ::014::

I guess it's not the hitch weight itself that bothers me, I know a class III is rated for it, I think it's more the lateral side-to-side movement that you get when cornering, etc. I have a hitch mounted bicycle rack and ski rack and both of them have way too much lateral movement, and the total load there is maybe 50 lbs.

The problem with the Harbour Freight traielrs is that the MSO you will receive with the trailer purchase specifically states SOLD IN UNASSEMBLED KIT FORM right on the MSO. Now, I am not 100% certain, but reasonably certain, that to get the title from Harrisburg (we are taking Commonweralth of PA here) all road worthly vehicles/trailers sold in UNASSEBMLED KIT FORM will require a PA Enhanced Saftey Inspection. This is not a routine safety inspection. And yes, I know trailers under 2990 lbs. in PA do not require an annual inspection, but this trailer is being assembled from a kit. So, you need to go to a specially licensed inspection station and have them do an enhanced safety inspection (which is really BS for a trailer), but you gotta get it done. Cost $75 (if you are lucky to $200....figure $125). Add that to your trailer cost.

I dont care what kind of trailer you get, you will be spending no less than $400 by the time you get it licensed. I picked one up from Tractor Supply, a left over which I got for next to nothing because it had some rust and wiring damaged, but by the time I did LED lights, a new deck floor, braced some of the tongue better, etc. notary fees, it is $450.

I’ve never needed one of those hitch carriers ‘cuz I have a pickup, but I see them listed used on Craigslist in the motorcycle listings all the time, some as low as $50. Maybe you can find a deal on a good one in your area in CL and then go check the condition and whether it wobbles like in that vid first-hand.

You were dead-nuts on about Craiglist, there were a bunch of carriers out there. After researching quite a bit I scored a good deal of one of these:

The Ultimate MX Hauler. I haven't hitched it up just yet since I just got it yesterday, but it looks like the way to go.

::012:: I’ve seen that kind before up at our motorcycle area. They have a hydraulic jack or something built in. The platform goes right down to or close to the ground and you just drive over it, jack it up and tighten down at the frame and pegs. Very cool.
