Curious about members "Build Date"

I had forgotten until a recent post here that the 'Build Date' was shown on the VIN sticker that can be seen from the front on the left down tube.
My bike is 08/11. I got her from a dealer here in South California in late Oct 2011.
I say build date but maybe it means something else-?
I'm curious if everyone has the same date and if so I hear there is a second group built now and do they have the same date whatever it is-?
The VIN has a date of some sort in it also. My VIN ends in 00109

I believe the standard VIN spec encodes the MY but not the build date. Some VIN decoders can do the translation between the last part of the VIN (the production sequence) and the build date based on data provided by customers or the mfg, but its not part of the VIN number spec.

Your 00109 sequence number probably indicates that yours is the 109th bike built in in the 2012 MY of the CA type. The CA models have a different prefix in the VIN and have a separate build sequence.

I believe all the PDP bikes had June, July and Aug 2011 build dates. We just got our first report of a 2nd batch build date in the other thread - it was Dec 2011.
