Coolant issues!

So went for a ride today in really hot weather. Bike ran fine, fan cutting in and out in heavy traffic as I was near home. When I got home and turned the bike off, I noticed a pool of coolant under the bike.

Overflow bottle was more than full and cap was popped off.

When it cooled down, overflow bottle was still full.

I used a syringe to get the level down and took about about 200 ml.

But later this evening I removed the radiator cap and a lot of air in there. Took 200 ml of fluid to fill it!

The same amount that I took out of the overflow bottle.

Any thought folks?

Faulty rad cap, stuffed engine?

Bike runs fine, oil is clear and has done about 30,000km.

Dealer changed coolant at 20,000 km and all has been good until today.

Not sure where to look next.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If it's not holding sys pressure, it will boil out like that. You can have the cap checked at an auto store possibly, or just replace it.
Maybe even have the coolant sys pressure tested too.

As others have said, could be a bad cap, but also check the condition and the connections of the hose between the top of the radiator and the recovery bottle.

So.. new rad cap this morning and all seems OK.

Engine fan cycles as it should, expansion tank shows small in crease in level with heat.. will see if it sucks back when it cools down.

Many thanks for the advice guys!
