I don't know if you are considering the outback series or not but I use them so here are my 2 cents on them

BUY OUTBACK!!

BECAUSE:

1. When you fall, they are sturdier than plastics.
2. You can hammer them back to their original state.
3. Built quality is excellent.
4. The bike looks more "long way down" aesthetics.
5. Interchangeable locks so you can just have one key to open the top and side cases.
6. Top provides a level base to strap some small dry bags. I usually put my dirty clothes in a dry bag, compress it and strap it down to the side cases. So in all you can put 2 dry bags(1 on each side) and add at least 30 litres to each side.
7. They provide extra points to strap a big duffle bag on the pillion seat. Used 80L and 100L. They hang outside the pillion seat but it doesn't look ugly.

The only con I see in them is that they make the bike fat from the tail and so one has to get used to the clearance issue when filtering through traffic.

To give you perspective, I use these bags in Pakistan, all the way from Lahore to KKH (khunjerab pass). The traffic is chaotic in my country but the bike's geometry with the side cases, works well.

the givi trekkers are a step up from the usual plastic bag, but,
they are riveted, and not as heavy duty as true aluminum case.
in the case of a fall, will ultimately let go, especially at the corners where they have the plastic bumpers. Similar issue happened on trax cases

I purchased the Kappa k-venture 37lt pair from motostorm, they are identical appearance wise to Givi out backs and about 30-40$ cheaper. Am Certain they are made in same facility just diff branding. The kappas use either Givi or kappa mounting system PL2119/KL2119 fixed mounting to bike or the rapid release set up PLR2119/KLR2119. 1/4 turn with provided T-&handle and mount hardware is off, PL/KL version requires additional tools and time to remove. The Givi out backs use a very specific mount for their box release system. All the way around if one chooses Kappa side cases, top box, and applicable mount hardware from motostorm one could save an additional $100 for the same quality/appearance luggage system. Check em out ::008::
