Starting to see a common thread here, no pun intended. I've started a new thread because it applies to several bike we are discussing in this section.
The S10, NC750X, V85TT, GoldWing, and FJR to a degree, all have lower revving motors that make for a relaxed ride. While 10,000rpm may be good on a sport bike and really only if said sport bike is on the track it's too frantic for the street. Especially if you're going to be on the bike for the better part of the day. My '13 Ducati Multistrada was a nice bike but the motor wasn't happy unless it, and the bike were accelerating. While fun for a moment having to maintain a constant speed was no fun at all and the motor was never happy doing it. The NC lopes along at an easy rpm and is going faster in the same gear at the same rpm than the 890 despite having less displacement and half the horsepower. Go figure. I'm starting to realize that this quality or trait in an engine is what makes a bike easy to live with and why certain bikes stay with us for so long.
