From there I'll ride south to Victor, where there is a short walk from the parking-lot to see "Rita the Rock Planter"

After that I'll make my way over to Hwy-9, and ride north to Breckenridge.
The plan is to find parking, and eat lunch at "Ollie's Pub and Grub", which is floating inside a replica Dredge.

After Lunch, a quick ride over to the Ice-Arena and a short 1/4-mile walk from the parking-lot to see "Isak Heartstone"

The plan is to return over Boreas Pass, which is an easy dirt-road along the old Railroad Grade.

This will be a mostly mellow Pavement ride, with the exception of the easy dirt over Boreas Pass Rd.

Total planned route for the day is 280-Miles.

If anyone wants to join me, feel free to post up on here!

If there are folks that want to go this coming Sunday (the 16th) I'll run this on Sunday, otherwise I will ride this on Wednesday the 19th. There will be less people to deal with mid-week.

Excellent Ride with @Mad_Matt yesterday!

The day started out cloudy and chilly. The sun would peek out later in the day, and it did eventually warm up.
We got sprinkled on a few times, but nothing major.

Since it was just Matt and I, we modified the Route and schedule a little bit.
Ended up being a 323-mile day for me.

This was once a Resort-Hotel along the Railroad that ran through here a long time ago.
They have been doing a little refurbish work to it recently.

Circumstances that unfolded at the end of the day led to me having ridden the farthest I have ever gone on a single tank of fuel.
306.8-miles! (there's still some fuel in there)
IMG_7723.JPG

Bike is claiming I got just over 62-mpg for the day (probably actually closer to 58-59 or so)

I'm now tempted to conduct an experiment, and see exactly how much useable capacity this fuel-tank holds.................

Thanks for organizing an awesome ride! When I filled up, I was shocked to see I only had to put in 5gal after riding 255 miles, which works out to the best MPG (50.3) I have ever gotten on my Super Tenere.

I know this is a bit "Short Notice", but I'm posting this ride here if anyone wants to join:

Weston Pass, Independence Pass and Aspen Mountain Summer-Road
Saturday July 12th, 2025

This is an "Intermediate and Up" level Ride.
Weston Pass has some sections of loose gravel, a few sections with embedded rocks, and a pretty healthy incline all the way to the top of the Pass.
Aspen Mountain Summer-Road climbs all the way up the Ski-Area, and is steeply uphill a lot of the way with some steep drop-offs next to the road.
If you are less-experienced with gravel-road mountain-pass riding, or are unsure of your abilities off-road, then you will most likely not enjoy this ride.......

Independence Pass is all pavement, and will be our connector-route between Hwy-24 and Aspen.

The plan is to have Lunch at the Aspen Mountain Sundeck at the Top.

This Ride will be "Weather Dependent". If there are any Storms forecasted for these High-Pass areas, then this Route will be a no-go and alternate plans will have to be arranged.

Once we leave the Gas Station we will make our way to Hwy-285, and head southwest towards Fairplay.
Just past Fairplay we will turn east on County-rd 5. This will be dirt-road, and remains dirt/gravel all the way over Weston Pass to Hwy-24.
We will head south a short distance on Hwy-24 to Twin-Lakes, then head west over Independence Pass on CO-82 to Aspen.

Once we arrive in Aspen, we'll make our way up the "Aspen Mountain Summer Road" to the top where we'll break for Lunch.
This is steeply-uphill dirt-road all the way to the top!
It's "Cafeteria Style" food at the Sundeck.

If anyone is interested in what it's like riding up the Ski-Hill to the top, check out this Video. (don't pay any attention to where I dropped the bike near the end. That was me trying to ride to Taylor Pass in the rocks.......We WON'T be riding that way!)

After Lunch we will ride back down to Aspen via "Midnight Mine Rd."

Screenshot 2025-07-06 175543.jpg

From there the plan is to ride to Glenwood Springs, and back to Denver via I-70.

Screenshot 2025-07-06 175825.jpg

This will be an "All-Day" Ride with plenty of epic Scenery, and a view of Aspen that people don't normally get to see (unless you're a skiier)

If you are interested in joining, please post here in this thread.
See you Saturday!

I'm going to Postpone this Aspen-Mountain Ride.

New Date for this will be:
Saturday, August 16th 8:00am

A couple people that are interested are still out of town this weekend.
I have commitments already for the weekend of the 19th and the 26th, then I leave for a 2-week Moto-Trip heading north on the 29th........I'll be back in town on August 11th.
Hopefully this will give a few more people time to join up if they're interested.

See you then!
