My Versys has flash to pass as well as a hazard switch. All that on a budget bike (a very good one, though) I can do without all of these items, including most certainly the Immobilizer. With ya Fred, why complicate things??

If anyone is concerned about headlight flashing, install a modulator. Thinking about that as well as a brakelight modulator.

I'm not saying these missing items are a deal breaker but, the only advertizing we seen here in the states have been the european bikes with these items.
It's just a little disappointing to have them roll in missing a few gadgets. Again, not a deal breaker for me.

Could this be a result of the supplier issues we heard about? Would they have had to wait longer to build bikes with these doohickeys?

Not sure Yamaha actually saved a dime by not including the high-beam flash-to-pass button...

Sure, the actual little switch and what tiny bit of wire to integrate it cost them what? At the most like 20 cents? 50 cents?

OTOH, by fitting the USA models without the button they now have to have the manufacturing sub-contractor make a completely separate switch housing, generate another part number for it, catalog in their parts systems and printings, print separate parts labels for the different switches, inventory two completely different switch assemblies, etc., etc., etc.

In the grand scheme of things I don't think eliminating it saved a penny.

As for the immobilizer... I'm glad it's not there - for all the reasons already mentioned.

Kinda curious sometimes, why they do certain things. Dallara makes a good point that it seems it would be more economical in the long run to make them all the same.

I doubt it has anything to do with supplier issues. I'm suspicious of our government and wonder if big brother(or sis) would not allow these items on US spec bikes.

No Flash to pass?
This seems like a step back in safety & security....Wonder what the logic was here? ???
IMHO the reason that there is no flash to pass switch is because most 'mericans do not understand what it means. Europe it is SOP, but here most people do not have a clue.

My ST1300 has the hazard flashers, and my Street Triple has flash-to-pass switch, both US-spec models.

I admit I never used it to "pass" on my last bike but it did come in handy for the cager who wouldn't dim his highbeams.
And there have been many who converted it to operate a garage door opener, etc.
Just seems odd they left it off as I believed it had become a standard feature on todays bikes.

I can't believe they left them off to save money. I have them on my Versys and had them on me VStrom. I fine hazards are very usfull if you are on the side of the road waiting for someone to catch up or if you are broken down on the side. Plus I use the flash to pass when ever I pass or if some cager has high beams on. These are both good safety features. I will probably look into getting a Euro one and modifying my bike to get it to work.
