Heidenau K60 is very popular with the Tenere.

For rougher stuff - go with the TKC, BigBlock, or the Mitas E09

50/50 I've now settled on the 705. Read all the warnings and keep waiting for a rear to fall apart but hasn't yet. Getting 5500 out of a rear and roughly 12000 out of a front. i've got it set up with oil changes to so for the price I don't mind swapping rears at 4000-4500 miles.

performance is reasonable off road in everything but deeper mud. on road dry is pretty good; heavy front steering and and rear tends to activate the abs when aggressive. on we road you kinda get what you expect for a 50/50 type tire....great to have abs and traction control.

until i try something else i'm sold.

While I can't compare them to the Hiedenaus as I've yet to try them, but I'm using the Mitas E07 Darkars and really like them. So far no complaints. I went with the stock size. I ride 50/50...

On pavement I've only heard a little whine on deceleration, but not all the time I think it may also be road surface. Otherwise the tires are quiet, good traction in the dry (I've not ridden in the rain on them). In the dirt, they have really good traction on hardback, and mild gravel. Seem to work well in buried and loose rock.

There is definitely a different feel to them compare to the stock tires, but not in a bad way… Just different...

So I've tried 3 "dirt" orientated tires on the s-10..

Just finished a 6000+ ride with two sets of tires so I got a good feel for what they were like.. had the K60s on before this...

Heidenau K60: good tire for 60/40.. last the longest of the bunch.. though I find it skidish in the dirt.. holds grip then looses with fairly little warning. same with the pavement. I think they are a good tire and would use for when I need a long wear do all tire.. I'm not with all the hype on this tire from the adv world.. but it's a good tire.

Kenda Big Block: good grip everywhere.. surprising how well on the road and really predictable on the dirt. fast wear... I got 2500 miles each on two sets.. front seems to cup quickly. If I was just doing an off road only trip.. I'd use these.

metzeler karoo 3: Great tire everywhere.. great road grip.. better than expected dirt grip.. overall best performance than the above two.. most expensive wear is pretty good. I'm on 4000 miles and the rear is will be needing replacement soon.. front looks good. to be fair.. I did some hard core off-road sections in Utah and spun the rear tire a lot to get up hills on loose gravelly rock mountain FS roads.

I'll be riding the Karoo 3 for a while until I see another tire I want to try.. I think it gives me more of what I expect out of a 50/50 big DS tire.

My only experience with tires on this bike is the K60 Scouts and the stock Battlewings....The k60s are good off-road and not bad on road....a bit noisy and definitely don't feel as planted in the corners but is an aggressive tire so you would expect that. Wear is great...I have 4K on mine and the front still looks new and the rear can easily go another 4K+.

Ran a karoo 3 to Oregon from cinti ohio on my 990 ktm rear was shot it wasn't going to last another 3 weeks so I traded the Ktm 990 for a 2012 super t with Kenda big blocks about 1/2 tread left put 4000 miles on those and replaced when I got home with Avon distanzas so far K60 and kendas big block have my vote. The karoo was good looking tire but short life mtc

Had the K 60 now riding the EO7 Dakar. The k60 are nice, but the center strip on the rear allows for long life but robs from traction in the wet and mud. The EO7 is fantastic in all conditions. The are designed to displace water on hard surfaces and have excellent traction on dirt and mud.

I'm on my first E07 rear after the BW, Scorpion Rally and K60. 7000 kms now and grip everywhere. Far, far better than the K60 which has no grip anywhere and only lasted 5000 kms for me.

I'm happy with a Scorpion Rally up front, on my second after an E10 and stock BW.

Rear E07s rule for grip off road and longetivity for me. OK on tar too, but untested by me in slop or wet tar yet.

I found the Karoo 3 to have extremely short tire life at less than 2K miles. It also had terrible grip in a power slide. Good tire in mud, or in a straight line in general. Would never buy one again. Far to expensive to burn through every 1900 miles.

I switched to K60's at 3800 miles to go to Moab, got almost 10k out of those.
Thought I had found Gold, but put a new set on and these at least the back are shot at 6.5k.
I'm planning on going to the Hub, so I have a set of Kenda Big Blocks on the way.
I know there aren't going to get the mileage of the K60's but for the money I'll give them a try.
