Has anyone ever put a set of Continental TKC 80 tires on there bike and what kind of Km did you get on them, and roughly guess how much dirt to pavement ratio did you do

Best 50-50 is probably the K60...... it does most everything well and you get tons of mi-Km out of them,........

The TKC80 is more of a dirt tire and you wont get nearly as many KM out of them but they are a bit better in the dirt and a bit less "road" than the K60.... I'm my experience, an average everyday guy will get about 6 K miles out of the front and maybe 2500-3500 mi out of the rear... Everyone is different and I've seen both of those numbers lower and higher....

On the other hand I got about 13500 out of my K60 front before I pulled it for a new one (for the CO Rally) and I got about 11K out of the rear...

We might start to see some good numbers out of that new Karoo 3 as well....

Have to somewhat echo Tabasco.

I will say that the Continental TKC or its Metzeler Karoo (NOT the T variant) counterpart are more 80/20 to 90/10 dirt tires than they are 50/50. I've not run the TKC on my Super T but have quite a bit of exposure with it on my R12GS Adventure. I've run several sets of the Karoo on my Super T and can comparatively comment as a result.

Front tires are a 2:1 to the rear tire. My Karoo rears are typically done in 2500 to 3000 miles and the fronts are, as stated good for almost twice that. My TKCs were good for 3500 to 4500 on the rear with the fronts not quite getting twice that.

For me, I like the off road feel of the Karoo better and will continue to use them when I know I am going to be all dirt. I run one to two sets of these a year. I go to Death Valley with Jimmy Lewis and AltRider every year and these are required tires. Heidenau K60s are not adequate in the terrain we peruse. Not that you can't use them but they are not the way to go.

I have at least 6 sets of K60s used between my Super T and my F800GS and F700GS and other bikes. They are a good 50/50 tire but I won't run them anymore as I no longer like their ride and feel characteristics since the redesign that added the center stripe.

I plan to spoon on a Karoo 3 after my Anakee 3 set have worn and expect these to be an exceptional 50/50 tire. Mileage won't be as good as the Heidenau but their function surpasses the Heidenau.

When off road air all of the above tires down to 25 psi front and rear for optimum suspension action and use.

Hope this helps.

Karoo 3s might be the new kids on the block for 50/50 tyres. I think the K60s are more a 70/30 than a 50/50 like the TKCs.

The Karoo 3 tires look like they would be a very good 50/50 tire, will have to try a set next time, if any one here gets a set I'm curious to see how long they last. ::001::
