Well my quest to add a passenger backrest is done!

The other day after I had installed my Altrider luggage rack I started to think about the various options to add a passenger backrest. I tried to buy a Givi backrest like another forum member had done, but looks like they have been discontinued and no one has them any more. So, I kept looking. I had an old Corbin Ovalbac backrest from my Corbin seat on my Strom. I had planned to sell the backrest in the spring, but came across it in a box of MC parts. I started looking at it and thought that it wouldn't be that hard to make a plate with a "receiver" that accepted the post of the Corbin backrest. Well, easy if you know how to weld and have the metal.......

Turns out I just moved into a different house and found out one of the new neighbors (who I had not met yet) had some sort of fabrication shop. So I figured what better way to introduce myself! So, grab some beers, walk over, shoot the breeze, blah, blah, blah, "hey man, you think you can make me a backrest bracket for my motorcycle?"

So he comes over, takes a look, says yeah, that should not be too hard, take it off and bring it over! SO I drew up the basic idea of what I wanted with some measurements and a few short days later he brings over the finished product!!! It was better than I hoped. He went ahead and threaded the plate so it just screws right to the Altrider rack nice and clean. He even included SS hardware! I am so excited! It turned out better than I had hoped!

Very nicely done!!! If I did not run a tail trunk whenever my wife was riding pillion, she would INSIST on a backrest!
