Has anyone heard the sound of these to personally? I just got the Arrow aluminum and am not too happy with the sound and level. With the db-killer installed it sounds like a sick Harley and is still too loud. With the db-killer removed the sound is like a big thumper (nice) but of coarse even louder. The fit/finish are nice as well as the light weight. The performance gain is negligible (mostly due to riding 8000' alt). I bought this one because the Akra is really expensive (2.5x) but I did see on the Akra site that the db was rated the same as stock.

That's my biggest fear as well. I bought pipes before and didn't like them. I have heard the Leo Vince slipons for the Vstrom and loved the sound, but still hesitant on pulling the trigger until I here them live. Sound clips would help, but its still not live.

The Akra pipe is pretty quiet if you have the stock headers. Decent growl when you are accelerating, and a little deeper at idle but same max db as stock. When I added the arrow headers the sound definitely changed for the better. Slightly louder overall, but really nice growl.. more like a muscle car sound now.

I also have the motorrad carbon pipe. but I must be getting old...like the quieter Akra better.

Why do you prefer the Akra over the motorrad? Is it the noise level as well? I'm looking into these two as well. Thanks for your input...

The motorrad pipe is lighter than the Akra, and has excellent fit and finish. But even with the baffle in it was still a little too loud for me. I suspect it makes better power then the Akra too. If I get home late I would have to cut the engine early to avoid waking up the sleeping 1 year old. Also I didn't have the heat shield set up properly (operator error) and I managed to cook the pannier a bit (medium rare). No trouble with the turn signals though.

Akra is nice and quiet, also excellent fit and finish, and I like that the pipe angles down so I don't worry about it BBQing the pannier.

;D We used to play rod hockey right outside both my boys room from the time they came home from the hospital. 36 years later they still sleep through anything and everything. My gift to my kids. I wish my Dad had done the same for me.

Interested in selling it? I might be interested.

if your worried about noise don't buy an aftermarket can (unless its a euro compliant can) as its going to be free breathing and alow more gas and hence noise to come out!

i thought loud pipes saved lives anyway ::013::

Not committed to selling just yet. I still have the headers to install and would likely keep those regardless the muffler I use. The Arrow muffler w/o the baffle definitely improves the rev-out to redline. The bike used to be lackluster above 5000rpm but pulls through much better now.

Bloke is right, it is a trade off with air flow vs noise.

I just put on an alum Arrow yesterday... I really like the sound. I haven't taken the baffle out yet but with it in I like it. Amazing how heavy the stock can is... but that's typical.

I had an Akrapovic on my GS and it was fantastic.. sounded great too without being too loud. It had a removable sound baffle. Does the Akra for the SuperTen have a removeable sound baffle?

Just put on the LeoVince carbon fiber. I like it w/o the baffle. I use the point down piece since I was warned the un-baffled can will melt the reflector and tail light. I like the sound w/ that off though so I'm a little pissed I cant leave it off. Overall I like the sound and it weights only 1/3 that of the stock.

I haven't heard these. Have you heard the LeoVince? Not loud at all. Slightly more throaty than stock.
