It just seems like there aren’t many posting here, and I don’t see many on the road, so I wonder sometimes how many of us are around in the Northeast.
It's the same in my neck of the woods. Back when the member map worked, (hint, hint) you could see exactly how many are in your area. There's a bunch around me but rarely do they post, and I haven't seen a Tenere in the wild in years. It just seems like there aren’t many posting here, and I don’t see many on the road, . . . .
I saw one on rt100 in VT a few years back and one on rt2 near Charlemont MA a while ago. Also saw one near Winchester NH with a Massachusetts plate. Other than that I can’t think of any. It's the same in my neck of the woods. Back when the member map worked, (hint, hint) you could see exactly how many are in your area. Funny thing is, when I was gonna buy my bike three months ago from a local dealership, I just told myself "Nobody is gonna get this bike any time soon, so I have time to consider other bikes and do a thoughtful pick"....When I finally make the decision for the S10 and went back to my local Yamaha dealership, the bike I initially saw was sold. I took three weeks for them to get a new S10 for me.There are some. Many? How many is many? How long is a piece of string? I have never come across any. Not even one.
There are some posts ocassionally in the Northeast Regional forum and I have seen IIRC two new members introduce themselves so there definitely are some. There was one poster from RI, and VT and ME, and there was that one from Seabrook, that's pretty close to MA, the one with cylinder head problems about 10 months or so ago asking if the valves closed against seats. And I know for a fact there is an MD from CT too.
If the traffic you are in on the highway keeps moving at the same pace you will never see one.
If one passes going in the opposite direction you need to have good fast maybe instant recognition. I don't.
If, like me, you seek the path less traveled there will be even fewer opportunities to see one.
When I do see a stationary mc at the roadside and the reason for stopping is not obvious, I have began to turn around and see if they need assistance and none of them are ever S10's so far.
I just think Yamaha doesn't sell many so there it is. Not many sold, divided by 50 states, equals less than many. There is your answer
All the best.
Quite possibly could have been me if it was a matte grey model with massive Jesse silver/aluminum hard luggage panniers. I frequent these areas for day rides.I saw one on rt100 in VT a few years back and one on rt2 near Charlemont MA a while ago. Also saw one near Winchester NH with a Massachusetts plate. You mean "wildman sightings", right? I had one in Frankfort (tan) for the past several years, kywoods rider had one (red) in Lawrenceburg for quite a while, there's a dude in Beaverlick that has (had?) a white one, I see a blue one running around the Bluegrass on occassion. They're out there, just apparently a little shy.Used to be a super tenere some where near the town i live close to. I am pretty sure he was a member here at one time. I have not seen the bike for two years if not longer now. Maybe once a year or every other year I will see one out on the road some place. About three years ago i saw 5 different Super tenere's in my travels to Sturgis and back. that is the most I have ever seen. you never see the bike mentioned in any road tests. If it were not for this forum and me owning one they would almost be like the big foot sightings!
The red one is the one i used to see every now and then. He has rode it by my house a couple times. I do remember the woods rider name now that you mentioned it. The blue one on the Bluegrass is more than likely me. I make frequent runs to Bardstown. You mean "wildman sightings", right? Here's another two: @jamesdabbott and @paulolopes. NH and Worchester respectively. It just seems like there aren’t many posting here, and I don’t see many on the road, so I wonder sometimes how many of us are around in the Northeast.

May have been. The bike I saw in Winchester was probably 4-5 years ago and I’m pretty sure it was matte grey. I saw the bike/rider at the town hall parking lot and stopped to ask how he liked it since I was thinking of buying one. Year or so later I found my 2018.Quite possibly could have been me if it was a matte grey model with massive Jesse silver/aluminum hard luggage panniers. I frequent these areas for day rides.
Last time I rode down there was on Rt122. Pretty nice relaxing ride through some nice towns between Worcester and Athol.iam, worcester MA
I am not an owner yet, but in the market. A deer totaled my ST1300, and I want to migrate to a dual sport platform. I have a friend in Franklin NH and one in Londonderry NH (member Longhaulpaul) who both ride the Super Tenere and highly recommend it.Here's another two: @jamesdabbott and @paulolopes.
