Another Tenere in Canada!

Hi Y’all, Is that how you Americans say that? Just poking fun from a northern neighbor. A warm hello to my Canadian brothers and sisters, and of course a wonderful hello to the Americas and everyone across the pond.
Just wanted to say how excited I am to be back with riding motorcycles. Been a couple years since my last ride, a Stratoliner by Star/Yamaha. Thought I would like the cruiser bike laid back approach. Had it for a few years, great bike, and solid dependability by Yamaha of course. My earlier rides were various Yamaha sport bikes, which fortunately I escaped unharmed from. We rode in packs, man were we cool.
Back in the late 80's I got pulled over by a Motorcycle cop on a deserted section of highway for speeding. Cop says “ Do you know how fast you were going?”. I say “No but I’m sorry for being reckless”. Cop says “ You were doing over 200 km an hour. What kind of bike is that?”. I’m like “It’s a Yamaha FZ 750”. He says “ well slow the Heck down, just go home, your lucky I love bikes”. Sheesh, the things we do when were young!
Huge fan of Yamaha’s reliability. Have owned many of their products, snowmobiles, motorcycles, quads, boats and boat motors, and up here in Canada a snow blower is a must. I love my “Yammy” snowblower, but I call it all kinds of bad names as I am pulling on my boots to go snow blow for an hour or so. Probably shouldn't take my anger out on this sweet track driven beast. She eats that snow up and shits it up all over my neighbors yard. Serves him right for spending the winter in Hawaii….F**ker!
It’s been a long crappy winter, worst I have seen in my 50 years. Looking forward to our hot summers and warm nights fishing for walleye till sundown, and of course some great rides with a new bike.
Been researching the heck out of which way I wanted to go next. A big ass cruiser, or something more interesting…a Tenere. Not much of a follower so no need to see another Street Glide around town. I have been absorbing every tidbit that you guys have so generously shared. Made up my mind, so a 2014 Yamaha Super Tenere it is! My new 2014 Matte Grey ES finally arrived this past weekend. Happy 50th birthday to me! Perfect timing, as the weather was beautiful.
A recent conversation I had with acquaintance…Me - I’m getting a Yamaha Super Tenere. Friend – You’re getting a what? Me - A Super Tenere… Friend – What the Hell is that?...Me - It’s a Adventure bike… Friend - What’s a Adventure bike?... Me - I gotta run, Please don’t phone me anymore… I guess I shouldn't be too hard on him, I was pretty green on the whole “Adventure Bike” thing until I met (lurked) you folk.
I am really looking forwarding to possibly meeting some of you fellow riders. My plans are to use this Beast as much as I can. They include weekend rides out to my cottage in Lake of the Woods Ontario. Some long distance travel to my Bestie’s place in Mt Baldy California, and definitely a trip or two to my folks in Kelowna, BC.
Hope to run into to a bunch of you guys in my travels. My parents once said “Be a good person, surround yourself with good people, doors will open and a mutual respect will follow you throughout your life”.

Warm regards,
Ron
