I'd be up for this and have the time off if there were some riders wanting to ride to warmth and sunshine down in CA.

The route down through eastern OR and CA Hwy 139 is real nice this time of year and a great ride. 735 miles to get there. Two days of riding and then blasting back to OR.

There are also some events planned for this fall down there but right now it's rainy and yucky here with all the good roads snowed in. This fall will be the best time to be riding here in the PNW.

If you have time, here are a few distractions to ease the pain of 395. You can mix and match the distractions for overall time.

Pioneer Saloon / Lassen Ale Works (Susanville) is a good place for food and a beer (if you drink and ride). Erik Jefferts is the owner, a dualsport rider, and an all around good person.

The route along Pyramid Lake is fun. There is a little more than 30 miles (CA border to 9 miles north of Sutcliffe) of easily ridden gravel road.

Monitor Pass is one of my favorite rides.

Wolf Creek Restaurant in Markleeville.

If you ride in Hwy 108 then ride out Hwy 4. Both are fun and beautiful rides.

Lake Tahoe speaks for itself.

Hwy 267 is a good ride.

If you don't mind bypassing the City of Tulelake there is a loop that borders Tule Lake.

Thanks Tim, exploring those sites now on Google Maps. I'm hooked up with Gary Dawes who has a campsite reserved that we'll share. I love the ride down 395 this time of year. I'm planning on getting south of Reno from Sandy, OR (528 miles) on Thursday and will head on to Yosemite (200 miles) on Friday. Weather forecast looks great. I've been wanting to go to Yosemite for some time!
