Before I bought the above rack and trunk I thought that I would not be able to open the Yamaha side cases with the trunk in place.
I am pleased to report that i can indeed open both side cases while just clearing the trunk which definitely makes for less side of the road fussing about. For reference I have a 2015 ES.

The alt rider rack was very easy to install, and seems to be strong as hell. Note you do have to buy the givi Monokey adapter hardware from alt rider for about $30 .
Happy riding.

I can tell you that this doesn't work with the altrider rack and Givi TRK52N trunk and is one of the reasons I now have TRK33N's for side cases instead of the OEM panniers. You can get them open but you have to bend the lid out to get it clear the trunk, which I was not comfortable with.

I can confirm that the OEM lids will clear the Outback 42L using the Givi rack as well. There's about 1/4" clearance on each side.

Guys will a full faced XL Arai sized lid fit in the 42L Givi trunk? I am mad I can not lock my fat helm inside the Yamaha trunk
It Should, I can fit both my Shoei GT Air and Arai XD4 in the TRK52N at the same time.

Easily, with room for gloves, a light jacket and other small or stuffable items.
