Alt Rider Rear Carrier - Cubby Space Optimisation

I appreciate that the Alt Rider rear rack on the Super Tenere has been designed to allow the rack to be installed either in the upper or lower position (to provide an optional flat cargo area with the passenger seat removed).

However in essence many riders would never or at least hardly ever, run with the seat in the lower configuration … accordingly the neat cuddy storage space provided in the upper position is not optimised for maximum storage :(

Because storage is always a challenge I understand some owners have modified the standard mounting arrangements to achieve this … using shorter standoffs and top plate spacers.

And so from the realms of “build it and they will come” … I’m wondering whether Alt Rider have considered the possibility of a proper alternative mounting kit for the rack. Obviously this would need a set of shorter standoffs together with shorter mounting bolts and a redesigned (deeper) mounting bracket.

Obviously if such an option was made available as a rear rack upgrade kit it would provide an either or option for owners ... albeit at Alt Rider pricing ;D

I too aIways wondered why the cubby(lower plate) was not taller and the stand off spacers shorter.

Before we get too far into "why"... what were you wanting to store in the cubby space? This will let us know how much more space is needed.

When I first got the Storm bag I was able to store a Slime air pump, Plug kit, tire repair String, CO2 canisters, and simple tools in the cubby space. Also a good space for emergency cash and emergency information. All of these items are stored in plastic bags in attempt to keep these items dry. Since then I have moved the Slime pump under the seat and added more tools in the cubby space. If I were to have more space I would include more tools and/or survival/first aid items.

What items do you carry in this space?

Tim .... sounds like you are I are fairly similar in approach :) I have a Storm Cubby Bag as well and generally carry a Plug Kit, my Clear Shot Visor Clean Kit and a Retractable Helmet Lock plus other odd bits and pieces. I'd also love to carry my Best Rest Cycle Pump and/or a First Aid kit back there but it's a trifle tight for that :(

My comments are really based around maximising all and any available storage space spaces available on or around the S10. I'm sure if more room was possible I'd definitely fill it without any problem

So the Best Rest Cycle Pump fits in the storage space with the Storm Cubby Bag. I have been wanting to buy that pump but did not know if it would fit. Thanks.
