ABS Motor Compartment Packed with Dirt - Heads Up

I know I have read about this here once before, but while washing the bike last weekend, I decided to pull that cover over the ABS motor, and have a look-see. The compartment had a lot of rocks and dirt in it, and did not look like a decent environment for such an expensive component. I hosed it out, and noticed the compartment did not drain very well, and the dirt did not drain out, so I drilled a 3/8" hole in the floor, at the front-left corner of the compartment, which did the trick.

Well, then I realized I had just filled the entire compartment with water, so I pulled apart all the electrical connections, including the big one attached to the ABS pump (which was dry inside) and let everything dry overnight. I then blasted out the compartment and connections with compressed air, and re-connected the connectors, with di-electric grease. Potential problem solved.

My bike is a 2012, with a lot of dirt miles, so if you ride in dirt and mud, I really suggest a look-see on your bike too.

I was one of the first with the ABS problem back in 2013 and had the unit replaced under warranty. I found the same problem with the drain holes plugged up so I just open them up to about 1/2 inch.

I went to take a look at mine last weekend and couldn't figure out how to pull the cover(s)? I found a couple obvious bolts, but couldn't work the cover loose, as it appears to be trapped under thseat release catch. Am I missing something obvious?
