Are these Whelen's held on with two way tape, mount bolts, or screws?

The one I bought is held on with #6 hardware (2 screws).

I've used Hpyerlights for years on the two Stroms. They work very well. I was out riding with a couple of guys last year. Rider #2 nearly slammed into rider #1 because he just didn't notice his brake light. After that rider #2 said he wanted to only follow me because it was impossible to miss my flashing brake light. Rider #1 and I were both on identical Stroms. Hyperlights work.

I just installed Hyperlights on my ST. Had them on the past two bikes and really like them - keeps those tail humpers back a bit. ;D

Install was easy - Tapped into the brakes lights under the seat (blue/black/yellow connector) with positaps provided. routed things under seat through the existing cable clamps and back through the slot at the tail. I armored the wires with cable shield for all of the runs and used a heavy piece of black plastic tubing to provide extra protection for the short stretch that is exposed to the wheel spray. I then routed the wires out through the red rear reflector (there is a large hole there) and mounted the lights at the ends of the reflector bracket on the license plate. Nice and sanitary, with no drilling..I don't like the lights out so wide, but with my new HT panniers installed I wont be so concerned about one of them being swept off in a get off.

BTW, I love my Super T so far! ::012::

The Hyperlights are definitely effective; I have had them on four of my last five motorcycles. I have had issues with the last two sets, however. The left side of the amber signal Hyperlights for my Bandit 1250S stopped lighting up half of the LEDs and half of the LEDs on the Hyperlight I used for an extra brake light on my DL1K stopped shining as well. Something particular to the 16 LED Hyperlights? Both sets were over a year old when they crapped out and I did not get any satisfaction from the company.

I am seeking supplemental rear brake lighting for the ST and thank you all for the information on alternatives to the Hyperlights.

Heres a picture of the LED I mounted on my Concours 1400. I used a resistor to drop the voltage input so that it is on constantly at a lower intensity for a tail light and then it comes on full brightness when the brake is applied.

Justbob,

Thinking about the Whelen TIR3 myself....what value/wattage resistor did you use? Did you also put a diode in place between the tail light/brake light leads to the Whelen to prevent backflow as some have done?

I installed a pair of trailer lights (for trucks) is not "polite" but is effective. There are 10 cm (4`)

And in adition at extra rear lights I puted a reflective material in the side cases

Holy cow.....that's......bright.....and kind of fugly....just like the ST!

That was not my experience with Hyperlights. I moved my Hyperlights from my Vee over to the S10. They were probably 4 years old. While riding through Hurricane Irene last summer my wife told me my Hyperlights were acting weird. Going on and off when my brakes were not activated, then just on all the time. I finally had to wrap some silicone tape around them to hide the light. The ended up blowing my tail light fues (not brake light fuse). I contacted the manufacture and asked them where I could get a new controller. I told them how old the lights were and they said no problem and sent me a new controller free of charge. They wanted the failed controller back so they could check it.

I have since wired both my wife's and my Hyperlights so I can remove them from the bike's light wire harness from under the seat.

If I remember correctly I dropped he input voltage to around 9 volts to get the intensity I was wanting for a constant burning taillight.
Sorry I dont remember what the resistor ohm value was that I used. Yes I used a diode to prevent voltage backflow.
I programmed the Whelen light for constant burn and then used a $18 programmable flasher (Ebay) to achieve the brake flash pattern I wanted. It flashes for about 5 seconds and then goes to constant burn at full intensity.
