COG had their Rally in Cortez June of 2015. It was a bit hot during the day but the evenings were comfortable. Campground, KOA IIRC, was pretty sparse.
There is a campground across from Mesa Verde NP that I stayed at during the Cyco Strampede 7 day rally last August. Nice RV style facility with clean showers and laundry facilities, but no hotel nearby if one requires such a thing.

Keep at it. It doesn't need to be a huge group - just plan for a good time with whoever shows.
Yea, last year, we all just showed up, and made some fun.
It's not hard, no real plans need be made, just set a date, and location, and those that want to go will show up.
