I'm tentatively planning a woods ride on the 27th over in Bald Eagle. Meet at the parking lot on PA235 at the top of the mountain. I'll be using the WR, MrT is hibernating for the winter. All welcome, we can adjust the ride depending upon who shows up on what. If any of you have 250s, all the better. Dress warm, it never got above 34 today, I doubt it will be much warmer then.

My tentative plan is one last good ride before the cold and ice take over. Frud ( frozen mud) can ruin your whole month. I'll be bringing the WR over by truck, so I have warm coffee to return to. I'm considering doing as much of the seven mountains ramble as I can. If people show up on more road oriented bikes, we can come up with a plan to properly accommodate all involved.

Alternate dates could be upcoming Saturdays and also the 26th. It all depends on weather. I can handle down to about 25-30 degrees, much colder than that You're dressed so heavily you can't move properly.

Give it a thought and inputs. If any takers, we'll deal with it as it evolves. There's nothing like a nice frostbite ride to finish the year. ::26::

Brrrrrrrr. I'm getting chills just thinking about 30 degree riding on the KLX. Then again, I'd love another chance to show Strong Mtn Rd who's the boss...

It would be nice to scare up a 250cc chum from down my way for moral support.

At least you have handguards, sort of. If we have snow between now and then, all bets are off. The rocks on the trails covered with ice and the frud will make it too much for me. I've already had my injury this year when I fell of the ramp and softened the landing of the WR. Leg just healed and I can now hobble normally again. I try to space out my pain, to savor it all the better.

Sadly, that's a bit too far of a location at that time of year for me. I do ride year round, but that's calling for a solid min. 8 hour day for me...a wee bit much in December temps. Whoever goes, have fun.

And....keep posting ride annoucements.

Certainly. If it just us 250s, we'll do the gnarly stuff: being dressed heavily allows thou to bounce better! If bigger bikes show up, we'll do diverging paths with several meets throughout the day. It all depends upon the weather. It takes me about 1.5 hours to get to your location, and about 35-45 minutes to get to the trailhead. So worse case (barring road construction and other show stoppers) from your location to the trailhead should be about 2.5-3.0 hours. Maybe a little more for the first time due to unfamiliarity.

We'll keep you in mind.

Update: it doesn't look promising: they are calling for light snow and freezing rain for a few times this week, maybe even the weekend. I'll update again by Friday/Saturday.

I may give it a go anyway, but want to prevent those coming from a distance to make an unnecessary trip. It is going to be quite cool at 35-40 degrees max, so plan that into your decision.

I have to drive right past there for a job on the 23rd, so I will drive up the mountain and look at conditions in person. I have a thermometer in the car, and it is always 5-8 degrees cooler in the forest than on either end, so I expect conditions will be different than here or State College.

I'll let you know.

I'm not going to hold my breath, but I hope it's half decent. Got a new toy for my son who turns 16 this winter,an 08 DR 650,and since he can't legally ride it yet I'm going to have to make sure it's A=OK :D Still a bit of a porker but 200+lbs less than the S10

Due the lingering effects of my cold, I'm going to skip the ride. I've been trying to shake this thing since Thanksgiving, and it just keeps hanging on. Long hours and no downtime have not helped in any way, so here's my chance to fix that.

So I'm going to take it easy instead. I'll catch you all in the spring.

Martin Motorsports in Boyertown is having their annual classic bike show in March, maybe I'll see you there. ::26::

I've had the same damn cold. Like you, it started around thanksgiving, took care of it at that time, then wam, knocked me on my butt again last week. Trying to nurse it to get rid of it completely.

Hope you feel better soon.
