    Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR

Got a response from Pirelli. The radial "v" speed rated scorpion STR will not be available in the Tenere tire size until May 2018 in the US.

    Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR

"Pirelli Scorpion rally" seems to cover the whole range of tires from dirt knobbies to street tires. I'm looking for the Scorpion Rally STR. That is a tubeless radial V rated highway knobby. There is also a bias ply version of that tire with the same rear tread pattern and a lower R speed...

    Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR

Read those reviews too, want to try them. Pirelli makes the right size for the Tenere, but all I can find are GS and KTM tire sizes. Are the Tenere STR's imported into the US?

    Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR

Would like to try these Pirelli scorpion rally str's. Main feature is a dirt tread pattern with a highway V speed rating. Where can you buy these things?

    Suspension change on my S10

Straight Fitting There is not much room around the shock mount. I had to use a 90 degree AN fitting to make the hydraulic line connection. That made installation harder. I tapped the shock to get three turns on the threads, installed the fitting and took a guess at which way the fitting would...

    Suspension change on my S10

Tenere shock rebuild Rebuilding the shock was pretty much like any other shock. It’s not hard after you have done it once. The hard thing was drilling the big-ass hole in the side of the shock for routing the hydraulic flex line to the remote reservoir. I “eye-balled” the thing and have no...

The damping force curves are computed from the valve port geometry and shim stack configuration.

    Suspension change on my S10

Shock shim stack tuning I re-valved my non-ES Tenere shock for a 17.8 kg/mm spring. That is a 32% increase over stock and by weight scaling that stiffer spring needs a sqrt(1.32)= 15% increase in damping. Because of that square root relationship between damping and spring rate the stock shock...

    Suspension change on my S10

Clicker tuning for a stiffer spring Took a look at using the clickers to tune for a stiffer spring with the stock shock damping. The 17.8 kg/mm spring I am running is a 32% increase over stock and needs a sqrt(1.32)= 15% increase in damping. That 15% damping increase target is shown below along...

    Suspension change on my S10

Weight Scaling The 19.6 kg/mm spring is a 45% increase over the stock spring rate. That puts the ratio of spring rates at 1.45 and the square root of that is 1.20. So damping needs to be increased by 20%. To keep the same suspension “feel” both compression and rebound would need a 20%...

    Suspension change on my S10

Race Tech does not have anything for re-valving the Tenere shock. Their recommendation is replace the shock with their G3-S shock. That shock with a remote reservoir and hydraulic preload costs $1,350. The good news is that is about the same as an Ohlins shock so you can have your pick...

    Suspension change on my S10

At 220 lbs I’m using a 17.8 kg/mm spring on my Tenere. For your weight the Race Tech spring calculator recommends a 19.6 kg/mm spring at 255 lbs. With adapter collars and spacers the cost is around $160. That 19.6 kg/mm spring is a 45% increase over the stock 13.5 kg/mm spring rate and is way...

    Yamaha Tour Windshield measurements.

My preference is the Parabellum. Drill some extra mount holes and the screen can be mounted high or low. Somehow the bike feels smaller in the dirt when the screen is out of your face.

Don't have a Cee Bailey screen. The measurement is 1" wider at the top. It could well be 4" wider at the widest point, that screen has some wacky curves. Post up some measurements if you get one........ and get the lower wings if you don't have them.

If you have cut down your stock windshield.....?

Drill a second set of holes to mount the screen lower. High when you want it, lower when you need it out of the way. More info here: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?action=post;quote=266318;topic=3401.45;last_msg=266689

    best screen

The v-stream wide top looks good for highway travel, but I think that wide top is going to hit the bars if you tried to lower the screen for dirt use. Dropping the screen is really nice on the dirt, or for riding "naked" on a hot slow day...... The bike feels smaller with the screen out of the...

    best screen

Givi and V-Stream do not make screens for the 2014+ bikes. From MIKE R: you can take off the stock 2014+ adjustable bracket - throw it away – and the older screens will bolt up to the bracket mount. But, you will need some spacers to clear the 2014 bodywork. National Cycle V-stream bike shot...
