    Need 'slab oriented tire recommendation

FWIW I have had excellent luck with my Annakee 3's. I have used them on 2 separate l-t trips. St. Louis to the West Coast and back ... almost 8,000 miles with no problems on the rear and tread left. However the front had cupped pretty badly. I used them on another trip that was over 6,500...

Repair / Rivet Side Rail on OEM Pannier

Thank you. Since it is a steel bar ... I assume a steel rivet vs. an aluminum one? A friend of mine said he could rivet it (i don't own a rivet gun and have never tried) but said to be sure to get the right type of rivet for the material to avid oxidation etc. Thanks for the advice.

Repair / Rivet Side Rail on OEM Pannier

Question: I have a 2012 ST and the 1/2 of the rail on the OEM Right Side Pannier has detached. THe rest is still holding. I was wondering if anybody has had this problem and Riveted the detached portion back onto the Pannier? And if so what type and size of rivets would/did you use. I...

    Aprilia Caponord

I love the Caponord. Unfortunately I am not mechanical at all. And the fear of, in the USA anyhow, a "boutique bike" failing in North Dakota and having to ship it a 1,000 miles for service and repair was/is enough to keep me from buying one. That is on of the biggest things I miss from when...

    FJ-09 First Review

I've test ridden the FJ-09 and I've got to say I really liked it. The engine was great, acceleration felt very linear regardless of the mode, the suspension was adequate ... not great but adequate (just like my old WeeStrom) and the ergonomics were really excellent. For my long legs (34"...

Tire suggestions for 5000 mile trip

+1 on Anakee 3's. They have for me lasted longer than anything else. For STAR last summer I got about 9,000 out of Rear and same out of Front. That included Higway miles getting out their from St. LOuis. I usually get about 7,500 out of them ... but normally don't ride slab nearly as...

I had both. Sold the FJR. Kept the S10. Fast enough for me and worlds more comfortable.

Looking to switch from Weestrom to Super Tenere

Rasher; Have to agree. I bought the Super Tenere after I sold the WeeStrom. I am seriously thinking of getting another WeeStrom to keep along side the S10. It is simply fun to ride on daily stuff.

Super Tenere or FJR? Trip planned

I voter with a lot of people in here. My FJR was lots of fun and truly fast. But it is much more compact on my knees and harder to take on long rides. My S10 isn't nearly as fast but it is all day comfortable, will exceed any speed limits, I think it is less subject to severe crosswinds...

How old is the Tenere rider?

According to the Grandkids .... just a bit older than Methusala! ::015:: According to Sister ... just a bit older than dirt, ::013:: According to my Wife ... old enough to know better O:-) According to the rest of the family .... Old enough to have hit senility :-[

    I thought I knew, now I KNOW..LD ride!!

Funny you say that. Same thing here. I have never measured clearance or compared what lean angles are required to drag pegs between the my recently departed FJR and my Super Tenere. But I drag the Tenere's pegs far more often than I ever did my FJR's; and the group I ride with have all...

Angled Tire Valves for Rear Tire

Looks like the one linked to by Philistine except it is 90 degree rather than 45 degree. I bought it at No-Mar (the folks that make the tire changers) here in Fenton, MO. I will look it up on ebay to see if I can get a link. It looks exactly like the listed one below...

Angled Tire Valves for Rear Tire

Obviously you are correct. But a couple of times I have come out of a motel where the weather cooled down a bunch and my tires were low. In those instances where you are close to a Gas Station with a pump it is nice to kill 2 birds with one stone ... gas and air. FWIW, when this situation...

Angled Tire Valves for Rear Tire

I have been able to install (a 90 degree) angled tire valve on my ST's front wheel w/o any problems. However, I can't seem to find one that fits on the rear wheel. I was out yesterday and was a tiny bit low (about 2 lbs) on the rear tire. However, with the stock valve stem getting air into...

    She's mine!

Congratulations on your new Scoot!!! Impressive if you can stop at the mailbox for a turnaround. When I got mine I told SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) that I thought I would go for short little trip to the Grocery Store and pick up some Diet Coke. I really did plan on going to the local...

Northwest Cajun. Please do let us know how the Cyclops mod works. I am also not a big fan opening more holes and running wires than necessary. But I really like the LED's.
