    Fuel tank hidden rust areas

The weatherstrips on the tank, mainly the left and right side, are prone to holding in water. I had my tank off to do service and checked into it. Pulled the strips off, sanded, primed and painted. Also put a little gasket maker to seal them up and keep water out.

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

The limited space is the worst part. It makes it very difficult to get the valve cover off, and back on with the gasket staying where it needs to be.

    Sanding forklegs

The bikes got 77k. The seals might have just been shot to be honest. I was able to catch a fingernail on the streaks, so I was convinced they were below the surface. Guess not...

    Sanding forklegs

My forks were leaky, and there were black streaks that wouldnt clean off with degreaser, so I replaced the legs. This gave me a chance to play with the old ones. The first pic shows the streaks and sanding with 2000 grit, which didnt do much. The 2nd photo shows what happened with red scuff...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Took the tail off and wired in a power connector into the taillights. Then wired in a usb charger thru the luggage box. Really wanted a way to charge my phone and radio, without having it on the handlebars. Woo!

Just curious. Might try rebuilding the ones I've got. Thought Id ask if they are sealed before I dig.

    Side case locks, rekeying?

I know the locks can be swapped out, but can they be rebuilt so the tumblers will match the ignition/key??

    Build my own tool kit

My thinking is, if I get a flat tire, and plug it, it'll need air. Even enough to get me to a gas station is fine. It would be nice to have an air pump built into the bike via spark plug or exhaust, and use the engine to pump air to the tire. Not sure the bike would run on 1 sparkplug, haven't...

    Damper rod holder tool (M10 x 1.5)??

More like, swapped, in this case. The current legs have black streaks (fingernail deep) where the seals touch, and enough fluid leaking to do something about. I'm hoping to get by with a m10x1.0 coupler locked into a socket (with tape) and on a 1/4" extension.

    Damper rod holder tool (M10 x 1.5)??

This is the most complicated, simple thing ever. I've seen the forum guides showing the step by step process and tools needed for the rebuild, but the part about the damper rod holder is skipped past. Some people are using a tool like the one in the pic, but I haven't had my forks apart and...

Building my kit at the moment. Got a hand air pump with a hose attached, so pumping doesn't bend the valve stem.
