I spotted this S10 on Gadgetify while looking at a rather boring video about rockets.... YOUR NEIGHBOUR IS A TERRORIST!!! Get your bike under cover...! full video here: http://www.gadgetify.com/diy-matchbox-rockets/

    top speed? nuts only

Same stretch as Ox. Reached 200 on the speedo, then ran out of straight road and chickened out. Bike had OEM side cases and topbox. No adverse effects caused by those.... Sent from my MediaPad 7 Lite using Tapatalk

    Safety Recall - Headlight Sub-Lead

Had it fixed under the recall two weeks ago. Had to initiate the process myself by going to the dealer. Yamaha Australia never notified me. Samps

How tough are the Yamaha boxes?

I reckon the Yamaha side cases have just the right amount of 'give'. They are hard enough to keep their contents (and make room for me to get my leg out from under the bike) but soft enough to not shatter into shards. The plastic gives, the aluminium gets dented and battle scarred. I am quite...

    Speed; perception, real and imagined

Measured with a home made GPS, doing 20 plots per second and constantly filming the read-outs from both speedo and GPS, I found my speedo to be out by 9.1%. This on roads straight and flat enough to safely neglect having to compensate for azimuth and bends, even though that is done automatically...

    OEM Tank Bag Strap Location

Dust and micro-movements in conjunction will cause abrasion under the netting... or at least, that's what happened when I used it under a rear fender bag on my cruiser. Covering the fender in film leaves no room for scratchy particles. And yes, Australian bull dust *is* different... Samps

    OEM Tank Bag Strap Location

Mine is a tight fit too. In fact so much so that, three months ago, in the cold of the morning, my hand slipped of the buckle while I was trying hard to get the two halves together, my right hand hitting the tank bag sideways and completely snapping the tendon of the top of my third finger...

But, of course, we all knew that already....

The Super Tenere has been found to be the widest bike by a Rideapart survey: http://rideapart.com/2013/10/5-narrowest-and-5-widest-motorcycles/2/ nss Samps

    Tires - need advice

I recently found myself in a situation where I had to buy 'the available tyre', a Conti TKC 80. What surprised me most was that, even though I had it fitted in the middle of nowhere, it was cheaper than the Mitas E07 I had planned on mounting a thousand kilometers further down the highway. It...

    Super Tenere State Count

I think Australia as a whole counts as an overseas outpost of the U.S. of A., bringing the tally of S10s in any single state to: 26! Who'd ave thunk...? Texas ain't that big after all... ;-)

    High Tech "Fuse" Block

Better still.... Park illegally. Then use the remote to have the bike 'yell' abuse at the parking inspector (or whatever those slip issuing persons are called) ;)

I have just now worked out what a 'zorst' is..... Not too proud to admit that I had to think long and hard about that one.... :) Samps

Burning Smell, could it be the clutch?

I had a case of "something smells like burning" last week.... Turned out to be a bit of long grass caught between bash plate and exhaust pipe. (Went to work the 'long' way, through the pristine Australian bush...) Samps

Just test rode a Tenere and Triumph Explorer 1200 back to back

Around here (in Oz) the flash-to-pass is a warning about cops with radars, or to indicate to oncoming traffic that their high-beam is annoying you. The emergency flasher is used to tell others that you are aware that you have parked in a stupid spot! Samps

Ooooh! Why did you have to post that vid? Now I have to start working on the excuses for going on the next one.... Bummer! ;-)
