    K&N Oil Filter Leak

Re: K&N Oil Filter Leak The Purolator PL14612 I purchased yesterday did not fit properly w/o driving the center section deeper with a hammer and a punch. Seems like more and more filters are being manufactured with shallow center section, reducing the number of compatible filters.

    Solid spoke rims

What purpose would cast wheels serve, other than appearance or shave a few pounds? Spoked wheels are hands-down much more durable. JMHO.

    spokes

Re: Loose spokes Mine is pushing 8K miles. I check spokes regularly. No loose spokes found. I own two other bikes with spokes. I ride them hard, and put them away wet. None of those have come loose either. As other's have said on this board - RIDE MORE, WORRY LESS!

    Fuel gauge problem

Ze zaskar - here is a photo of the fuel pump assembly showing the fuel level sender. It's a simple variable resistance set-up. According to the service manual the resistance with a full tank should be 19-21 ohms. empty tank resistance should be 139-141 ohms. Hope this helps.

    Horn Schematic?

Unfortunately all wire-to-wire connectors are listed as #13, kind of a generic thing I guess. You may have to physically trace the wire back to source to find that connector, and I know that can be a PIA. Switch/sensor/etc. connectors can be identified by their shape and position/color code of...

Removing front wheel to replace tire

Yep. Much heavier and larger than what I expected, but does work well. Not really practical to take on the road, but then again - that's what side stands are for. :lamp:

    Oil leak

If you purchase an ST in California, your bike comes with a charcoal canister to catch any fuel or vapor that is vented out. Just another thing to add weight and go wrong IMHO.

Removing front wheel to replace tire

Greg, the stand came from http://www.motosport.com/ It's labeled as a "Moose Tire changing Stand. It's listed at $99.95, but I think I got it on sale for $69.95, Sure beats kneeling on the ground, and with the wheel raised higher, makes it much easier to apply your body weight to assist in...

    Oil leak

Those hoses are vent lines for the fuel system. Completely normal to have a little fuel/vapor "leak" out as fuel expands in tank. Has nothing to with engine oil. ::021::

    Throttle Body Icing

Dirt Dad, I think the race you were informed of may be the annual Bicycle Hill Climb race. I can't imagine peddling all the way to the summit, let alone doing it as fast as possible! And I like to ride bicycles!

Removing front wheel to replace tire

Thanks for the pics Dallara. I'm curious as to how the dealer got the bike up and out of the crate?

    Throttle Body Icing

Two days a year they close the road to automobiles and only allow motorcycles, however I don't see anyone doing a Pike's Peak style run due to hundreds of bikes making the run up and down. Sorry Dirt Dad!

Removing front wheel to replace tire

Great info Dallara. I purchased the ST and Kaw from the same dealer. I've had rear wheels, bars, seats etc. off both bikes without issues. Hopefully limited to these two incidents.
