    Utah/Colorado trip on the Tenere

Thanks, gents! I don't have GPS tracks, but this site does: http://www.myxj.net/blog/colorado-gps-tracks What's nice is they are in Google Earth format and GPS format. I previewed the routes on Google Earth before I downloaded the tracks. And then I didn't use any of them because everything...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

I added a few things getting ready for a trip to Colorado over Labor Day. Added a tool tube: Fits with the pannier: Added some dirt bike fork covers: And mounted up my Laminar Lip windscreen:

    Force Accessories Bash Plate

Just remove the four bolts, two at the front and two at the back corners, and pull it off.

    Force Accessories Bash Plate

Ok, I took a picture of the edge of the plate with a 6mm wrench on it. It looks like 5mm based on this but part of that must be the powder coating. So I'd call it 4mm.

That filter is too close to even mount the plate. I only loosely mounted the plate for pictures. I'm going to have to put on a stock oil filter before I can put the plate on for good. I'll take a picture of the clearance when I get the filter changed, then we can decide if there is adequate room.

    Force Accessories Bash Plate

I'm not sure on the thickness of the metal. I'll try to measure when I get home, but I don't have a micrometer so it'll be off a tape. As far as bending back into the filter, I can't imagine those brackets bending under any reasonable hit the bike would take. I think if I was riding and took a...

    Force Accessories Bash Plate

I ordered through their website. http://forceaccessories.com.au/store/index.php?searchStr=FA-005-YA-09&_a=viewCat&Submit=Go My shipping was $38, which still seems like a lot. But coming from AUS I was okay with it. Still an inexpensive option compared to the others. Especially if you are...

I don't know. Once I get the filter changed and mount the plate for good, I'll measure the distance from the fender to the plate.

    windscreen feedback

I went the other direction. I put on a small Laminar Lip I had lying around from another bike (Buell.) It's about 8 inches high and 16 inches wide. I get a lot of air flow, which I wanted because I'm in the desert. But the flow is smooth and it's not on my chest so I'm not being blown off the...

    Force Accessories Bash Plate

Force Accessories bash plate came in the mail today. This is a heavy duty plate, seems like it'll hold up. It does not use the threaded hole at the back of the sump. It does use two previously unused lugs off the engine and the two threaded holes the plastic guard used in the front. Two sturdy...

    disappointed with the horsepower

    It's all about perspective. It's not a racehorse, but it's not a donkey either. It's a mule.

Engine heat, Can you feel the heat?

I rode my S10 Saturday in Phoenix. Intake air temp was showing at 104. I noticed heat from the radiator once or twice in 4 hours of riding, not uncomfortable heat though. (I wear jeans.) I felt the heat while moving, which I think is managable, but not at all while sitting at stop lights. The...

    First trip - Pictures added!

Re: First trip Looking forward to the pics! Just FYI, you should can decrease the size of a photo when you upload it to a photo hosting service. Picasa is really good for this. That way you can take high quality pics for yourself and still upload them here.

    Another desert dweller

I picked up the bike on Friday. It was a really great deal, I paid what he was asking, which was 1K under MSRP for the bike and free panniers. Plus no sales tax! Can't complain about that. The seller was a little bit paranoid about selling on CL. A little too leary about getting ripped off...
