LTE being terrestrial based penetrates into building and vehicles a lot better than GPS. GPS receivers require a fair bit of power to find the initial fix when cold, so you either need to consume a lot of power each time you want to get a location, are always leave it on so it can keep track of...
I work for a IOT company that uses nothing but LTE signals for device position acquisition. FWIW, cheaper, less POWER, and the device can report its position with the LTE modem. One of the things I am helping with is working with the modem vendors we are partnered with testing the devices. I've...
Nothing overly amazing, just some riding around collecting data for work.
The bridge is Carpenter's Bluff, just east of Denison on the Red River. It is now "closed" to vehicle traffic, but the would just fit through the barriers.
Yesterday took a little time to myself and got out for my first Christmas day ride in the 21 years of living in Texas.
Went down to Whiterock late. Not the most amazing place in the world to ride. But I still enjoy it. And with only 2 hours to spare, it made for a great Christmas Day ride.
I don't need to stay on the bike that long. I just want to be able to rest where I want. And of course one of these years I want to go up Yukon 4 from Watson Lake to Carmacks. You need that kind of range for that route.
I don't get it. I had some work done at the local Triumph dealer to me, and I was amazed. I could not figure out if the tech just did not care or was incompetent. In either case, in the end everything was made right, some by me, some by them. *BUT* I spent a lot of time taking dropping off the...
Hello.
Now in the DFW area, but I grew up in London, went to Western. Wound up moving to Texas, marrying a local, and she won't let me leave, for long.
I'm likely going to wind up getting both.
Contacted twisted throttle and they did not seem to want to help. Basically it was "well, don't see it listed", and when I pushed, "nope". Hmmm, just spent $1500 with them, and they don't seem to care. Oh well.
The hugger is listed in the $200 (US)...
BTW, FWIW, I am pretty happy with the value so far. From everything I've seen I am very happy I went with Givi instead of OEM. And really enjoy being back to the land of side cases in this fall weather. You know, the gear you wear in the morning to work is different than home from work.
From twisted throttle, and here's my bill. I am still using the 2 locks that came with the cases. I might return the 3 lock set and try to use the cylinders that came with the S-ten. Just don't have the time in the shop to play.
Where did you get the fender extender? pics? part number?
I put one on the KLR650, then the Tiger 800XC, and I would like to follow suit on the S-10.
I'd like a hugger as well, but I don't think that would be easily done :(
Changed the oil on her last night. A bit late at the 4,000 miles, 4,201 to be exact. And I've got to say, for over 3500 miles that was the cleanest oil I've ever seen.
The hardest part was figuring out which loom to cut. Once there I removed about 2-3mm of insulation on each wire, staggered. I wrapped the Denali wire onto the S-ten wires, then soldered them. I am not fond of the wire vampires. The ones included look really good, and I used them for testing...
Definitely Texas, lived here since fall of '98
And yes, as far as tires, I only use good tires and used good tubes. I will continue to use 92 Ethanol free from Buc-ees when I fill up there. Otherwise, we will see, situationally dependent.
