And I'm sure that if they become viable, they will cost more because they're "green" or "organic".

We travelled in the area with my wife last summer, very nice places indeed. We spent a night at a hotel near Kerimäki and there were WW2 trenches still in the backyard of the hotel. Russians never reached those though, but were not far. Now that Russia is again militarily active it was sort of a worrying feeling...

It's nice to hear that you liked the place and especially in the area (Kerimäki-Savonlinna) there are really beautiful lake landscapes. I've always lived near the eastern border (Lappeenranta), and got used to the fact that the border is about 20 km away. It is understandable and even wise to be a little worried, but fear should not be given power. ;)

In my area, you can still see a lot of WW2 history, bunkers, trenches, etc...
I have also visited your country several times and I really like it. On a motorcycle last time in summer -22 in Pärnu, a nice little town with sandy beaches...maybe next summer again.

@Jiivee Next time you are planning to come over here, let me know, we could do some biking together. I live in Tallinn and know few mc friendly roads around that are somewhat more exciting than the borig motorway to Pärnu...

Thanks, that would be nice.

I will definitely let you know when I come to Estonia next time. Last time, my FJR friend and I came by ferry to the port of Muuga and drove smaller roads to Pärnu, as I remember, something like this... Jägala-Kehra-Kose-Rapla- etc... Via Baltica is definitely boring and the traffic is dangerously crazy.

That was a wise choice of roads indeed. There are also many nice roads at the coastline east of Tallinn.
