Hi folks
Just wondering what the best oil weight for a single rider with luggage, im rebuilding the forks at the moment.
Depends on many things... If your all stock and you like that ride... SHORT answer is the 5Wt.

You can also manipulate the ride with other things.........

Uh oh... this is almost like an oil thread or a tire thread. Tabasco is right.
The question in my mind is... were you happy with the stock ride? If not, what were you unhappy with?
If nose diving under braking was it... then you need to go to a linear spring.
I prefer to contact Traxxion Dynamics in Marietta Georgia. They will tell you exactly what spring and oil you need.
If that isn't why you're unhappy then try a 7 wt before you try a 10 wt. I'm running 7 now with Traxxion Dynamics AK-20 cartridges and their springs. I'm also running 7 wt in my CBR 1100XX Super Black Bird with modern cartridge installed.
So please tell us why you want to change.

With a stock set-up, stick with the viscosity recommended by Yamaha. Five-weight oils are not created equal, so find/use something close to OE viscosity.
