There has been a lot of times that I wish I had one of these.........
My friend Cap'n Ron has one, but he is currently residing on his Sailboat, and his printer is 100-miles away from him, in storage. No access at the moment.

I have a Prusa I3 Mk3+. It's been great. Over 70 days total printing time since June 2020. They are still one of the best "point and shoot" models out there will little to no tweeking needed. Assembly is half the fun too. If you get one of these get it as a kit, not assembled. It's a great 'bed slinger ' machine.
Their latest mk4 is amazing but it's pretty spendy.

Bambu Labs has their 'core XY' type machine, the X1 and X1 Carbon. These offer a complete enclosure and huge number of material that you can print. The Z axis or up and down is very stable and one of the reasons that these are faster at printing that a bed slinger type. Big spend on these but not super huge.

Creality has their K1 machine that is a less expensive printer but almost the same as the X1 from Bambu. It does suffer from needing tweeks and a little more attention for maintenance and things. They also have a bed slinger type machine the Ender3 or something that's can be close to the Prusa I3 Mk3 with some extras and add one.

Son has a Prusa mini+ and Bamboo P1P that he has running constantly to sell bore devices and to make accessories for his 22LR distance shooting world (PRS/MARS matches out to 500 yards). His comments below are from somewhere else:

The Bambu P1P and the prusa mini are a good choice. Both don't require as much tinkering to get running vs the ender printers from what I have heard. Both are 700 or less.

You wouldn't outgrow a printer unless you are trying to do one of three things:
1) Exotic Materials. These materials require different hot ends but most people will likely not use them. Some also require filters due to off gassing.
2) Large prints that are not glued together. This is more limited by your imagination than the printer. Large prints typically can be broken down into smaller pieces to be printed.
3) Multiple colors in a single print. This typically can be worked with by altering print settings. If you want a true multi color print that isn't glued or snapped together, you would need a nicer printer.

I am still running the mini and it does almost everything that I want on a 7x7x7 area with a single nozzle. I am going to upgrade the hot ends to do carbon fiber filaments. If you enjoy assembling Legos, I highly recommend buying the kit as I had a blast building it.

If you don't want to build and want to just start printing, the Bambu P1P is the better way to go but it is a little more expensive.

I'll add that you need to add in for accessories that quickly become necessities, starting with heater/dryer enclosures, vent hoods for some nasty gasses, spool racks, etc.

I'm following the info from this thread, because I know at some point I'm going to have to get one of these if I'm going to keep up my fabrication hobby. Some of the ABS stuff I build would be a hundred times easier with a 3D printer.
