What is a "raid" edition . And does "raid" have some meaning related to motorcycles in England or Europe. A gathering of bikers perhaps? Here in the USA to me raid is a brand of bug spray or cops busting druggies

A Rally Raid is a type of cross-country race involving automobiles/motorcycles in Europe and elsewhere overseas. Kind of similar to our Baja Rallies here in the States.
the raid edition tenere, is like the world crosser edition gen 1 it was more expensive as it had carbon panels etc few bits more than the standard bike

When it comes to the bike, the Raid edition (or worldcrosser as they were known here) have some added protection and maybe some different decals.
I would add to what he says... That you should not take the word "RAID" alone, because defining it that way, it is, as you say, a police raid.
Rally is on a road (asphalt/dirt), where the navigator is the only one who knows the difficulties (The idea is to run the section, at maximum speed, as if the pilot knew the section, but it is the navigator who actually knows it)..... Rally Raid is also a race, but without a road or prior knowledge of the difficulties (the navigator does not previously run the section to mark points of interest). It is getting from point A to point B, using navigation and at max speed... (Dakar Rally, Baja 1000, Camel Trophy Rally), they are Rally Raid

French thing, particularly related to their former colonies in North Africa. For moto, Thierry Sabine/ Cyril Neveu et al, but 'Raid' encompasses all vehicles to the extent that motorcycles might be considered something of a side show.

I have Raid edition 2018 bike. As extras it has carbon fiber side panels, fog lights, alu panniers, tank bag, touring screen, skid plate. All the rest is standard ZE.

Well I’m glad you asked because I never actually knew what a Tenere Raid Edition was. Where I’m from it’s pretty difficult to find any Tenere in a dealer showroom, very rare to actually see a Tenere being ridden.
