I got a cool custom fitted bag for mine from http://www.stormind.net/home.html I don't see it listed in the store section of the webpage but just shoot them an email from the contact button and they'll hook you up ;)
The reason you don' see a fork brace on USD forks is because the tire would hit it under compression because it is bolted to a non moving structure. On standard forks the brace moves up and down with the legs so the tire can't hit it.
I've had my Tenere deep enough to get water in the engine (knew i was in trouble when the water was over the seat) and the final drive never got any water in it...

I guess I got lucky, I went in water deep enough to get in the airbox and the engine but my driveshaft stayed water free. Took 6 oil changes to get the engine oil looking normal again...
I have the SMH-5 (actually two of them), it works pretty well and I have no complaints with it. When using as an intercom between bikes the range seems fair, I'd have to say 300yds in clear air. One thing I'd suggest is getting the "large speaker upgrade". They're alot louder and the sound...
Well they certainly look pretty cool and I'd like to try them and see how they work. According to the Metzler page they are going to make a Tenere size http://metzeler.com/site/us/products/tyres-catalogue/Karoo-3.html . I checked a few suppliers and seems like they were all still waiting on...
