    running new bike in

Break it in the same way you plan to ride it. But get that break in oil out after a few hundred miles, same with the rear diff. Then ride it how you normally ride. I've never used a drop of oil in mine. As far as using oil, all modern engines are built with moly rings that seal in the...

    Florida to Alaska

It's real easy to over pack, but some might disagree. Make sure you can handle any weather, rain suite, riding gear, ect. I like to save my old underwear and t shirts and use them and toss them when I'm done, that way your not bringing back lots of dirty clothes. I use Smartwool socks, I can...

dealer say 2 hours for TB sync

I know it goes without saying but, you have to calibrate the sync tool every time you use it. That takes almost as much time as the TB sync! Should still be under 2 hours though.

    Rear drive seals needed

Greg, if you get in a bind you might try www.stadiumyamaha.com out of Texas. I use them for all my parts and maintenance stuff. Spence

Low Idle stallout on 2013 break in

The bike most likely stalled from a lean condition. I'd put a few thousand miles on it before making a bunch of mods. Just remember once you add more fuel, you need to open the exhaust, and once you open the exhaust you'll need more air! It's a package deal if you want it to run right...

USA Bids Farewell to the Super Tenere - We Hardly Knew Ya'...

It would be a shame to drop the Tenere. Although I firmly believe it has not had a fair evaluation from the magazine industry. It's no secret that BMW is in bed BALL deep with the magazine company's and they're not about to kick that sewing machine they call a bike off the top of their list...

    New to Teneres

I'm 6'4" and 285 and my pegs and bars are in the stock position. I do have the Yamaha tall wind screen and could use another inch or so but it's still a sweet ride. I also came from a BMW, mine was a 1200 GS and the Tenere is more comfy to me and a much better bike IMHO. One thing, crank up the...

    Downshift Problem and Solution

Thanks Fred and Dallara, I'll try that first and hope for the best!! Just incase I'm going to order the spring, it's only 3 bucks at Stadium Yamaha. Wouldn't hurt to have it on hand.

    Downshift Problem and Solution

I just returned home today from a 1100 mile trip and mine started having trouble downshifting at the exit to my town just 6 miles from home. Made it home but had to tap two or three times to get a downshift. Up shift was no problem. My bike only has 4900 miles on it. I guess I need to get it...

ST vs GS back to back

Nice write up Greg! As a former GS owner, don't know if I could ever go back after all the issues I had with my 05. The more I ride my Tenere the more I say to myself " you Beemer guys don't know what you're missing" ::008::

If you have ARROW HEADERS.......... READ THIS..........

You guys can give them all the crap you want about "flushing things" fact is it's been done for many many years. A practice done to engines as well as rear diffs that have been neglected on oil changes, using about a 3 to 1 kerosene / oil ratio. And there is a procedure for doing it right.
