Sorry, I couldn't let this go. You're wrong. Yes, a driveshaft has higher loss from engine to rear wheel, but 1) a driveshaft does not limit hp developed at the crank 2) a driveshaft does not cause 30hp loss otherwise it would be red hot (the power has nowhere to go but to be turned into heat)
Thanks, I think I'll need the luck as I've tried selling in the last few weeks leading up to Christmas in the past, and it is a dead zone for people to buy bikes.
2019 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S
Selling because I just do not ride any kind of sport touring or “ADV” distances anymore, nor do I commute more than a handful of times per month because I need to do afternoon daycare pickup. Tried that once with a baby seat strapped to the back, and they called...
I'm thinking about selling mine. I just got out for an overnight ride (which is necessary to get to really good roads) and the riding was just too much for me. I'm good with 2 hours on any bike, and after that it becomes a chore. Not sure what is wrong with me. I also apparently like to maximize...
Where is it written on KTM's warranty documentation that an inspection is required after 1st year of ownership? I've never hear of this or seen it. The 2021 pdf on their website does not mention it. Plus, an "inspection" can be done on the USA by any qualified mechanic per the Magnusson Moss...
Checking in on this thread for the first time a few months. Ditto all that is written about the SAS vs. S10. Mine is just over 4k miles now after 11 months of ownership (kids and work keep me from doing the high miles that many can). I'm on the 2nd rear tire as the first one was squared of and...
SAS is the reburn mechanism from the charcoal canister that catches fumes. I doubt anyone maintains it, as it is usually removed as the first modification. All modern street bikes have some form of this per environmental rules.
News (to you) flash: valve checks are at 18.6k miles. Not sure who misinterpreted or lied to you about the schedule, but this is from the service manual.
Sold my 2012 S10 and my 2016 XSR900, and got a 2019 KTM Super Adventure S back in November. I wanted the S10 ergos with the XSR power to weight. Not quite as good ergos, but better power to weight.
I put a fiber UTV exhaust wrap product on the rear header, and that helps keep the radiant heat...
