I rode a 2008 with very low miles. I found it very buzzy and very hard to steer at low speeds. I really feel like the tenere is a way better tight mountain road bike. The tenere flips left and right like butter compared to the FJR. Of course I have a few mods on the tenere, but it is more...
Remember to never leave a wet shock so on any longer than you have to and wash frequently. It can create its own problems. Mine stay on my engine guards unless there will be some wet and or dirt. Otherwise I clean the fork with a paper towel every day while traveling.
My Holan panniers and racks were 28 lbs I think?????
With water and fuel I add 60 lbs to that camping. I have camped with only 30 lbs though.
For 3 months in Mexico I was right at 40lbs. I did strap on my cheap Walmart 12 pack cooler and as usual it was the most used piece of kit. I did...
I spent a year with a cam strap from front to back holding my right side closed. It actually was convenient to have more frequently used stuff in that pannier. I just loosened the strap and slid it off the edge to access stuff the slid it back over the top and tightened it. Way quicker than...
Be sure to take the rubber off when your not running the cases.
I liked the cases fine but after a few thousand miles of dirt the plastic case broke off where it mounts on top. I was able to cut out the rest of the area and attach 1x angle aluminum and make it work but never got it perfect...
Huge plus 1 on the Holan. He is the guy that worked and designed the bumot is my understanding.
I shopped for a couple years before my factory case fell apart at the mounting point.
The Holans are perfectly symetrical and narrower than the stock cases and are actually larger than stock. They...
I would have to disagree after ordering springs for the XR. Those were about 40 lbs too light trying to set static and race sag. Basically my XR luggage weight with full water and 2 liters of fuel.. The bike is perfect without the extra weight. But that bike is purpose built and always has...
P.S.
Luckily (or unluckily). I don't have any big trip plans so I have time to drink around with it and see if it's possible to get around replacement.
In case it's not, does anyone know a pilot hole and screw size combo for removing the seal?
