If you remove the outer push rod and install the Barnett kit just for reference, it will tightly contact the fiber plates. The 1/8" dimensional discrepancy I mentioned earlier from stock is limiting the full travel of the pressure plate to bottom out on the clutch plates. Even when the push rod...
Tried all index positions, will not tighten to the last fiber plate. Back to back installation for comparison, the stock setup is tight to all the clutch plates.
Got the 2nd kit, this time straight from Barnett. Both of my kits are identical in packaging and appearance. Still doesn't work though and can overpower the clutch with my feet. And can still slightly move the clutch plates when it's engaged. Even though the stock spring setup works. The...
The idea of the Barnett spring conversion kit is it replaces the stock diaphragm spring and pressure plate with 6 coil springs for a more linear clutch pull. My other bikes have coil springs stock, rather than a diaphragm and I feel the diaphragm gives a, on or off clutch engagement/feel. It...
A seller on eBay, almost 10k feedback at 99%. I sent them an email asking if they are an authorized dealer, they look legit so I don't know what happened, just repeating what the tech guy at Barnett told me. Ordered a new one from Barnett today, when I get that I'll put a micrometer on the...
I called Barnett, they said they put the part number on all there pressure plates. Mine does not have the part number on it. I purchased it online and they said it's more than likely a copy of there kit. Hard to believe, but I'm going to order another directly from them and it better work.
The friction plates have a v notch on one ear on each plate, what does that indicate? There is also an arrow symbol on the 14' basket. The service manual does not reference these marks, but I assume they are there for alignment.
I have the last plate offset, one notch between the rest of them. One thing the manual stated was that it might take a afew gear shifts for the plates to seat correctly. Never had that happen, but could be a possibility. Even though there talking about disengagement, not the engagement issue...
The set came with 3 spring sets. I used the black ones which are medium compression. I did not remove the inner plates from the clutch boss behind the retaining wire, just removed the outer plates so I could get the locking wrench on the boss for removal of the shaft nut then reinstalled the...
Gen 1 with 5k miles. Purchased the 14' clutch basket and the Barnett spring conversion. After installing with the stock plates, I tested the clutch engagement with the bike running. I could overpower the clutch and stop the bike in gear with my feet on the ground. I disassembled the entire...
