Got these from a friend who was deciding to no longer ride motorcycles. Aplinestar Drystar jacket and pants. Includes suspenders and liners for both the jacket and the pants. Overall great condition. Some small stains on the...
Some of the yellow latex is missing from one of my rear linkage bearings. Don’t have tools to remove the bearing (bearing tools or sockets to fit the sizes required to push them out).
Any recommendations on tools? Looks like Motion Pro makes a bearing removal tool kit for $172. I’ll spend the...
Guess this answers my question I was going to ask - no way to get the 3rd bolt out without moving the exhaust?
One of the bearings has some of the packed in yellow grease missing (see images). Assuming it’s best to just replace instead of wearing it out over time.
Finished replacing seals again this morning. So much quicker the 2nd time around :D 68 mile ride and no oil.
Both oil seals were flipped the wrong way. Thank you for everyone’s information!
I know the thread is a tad old…
My PR5 tires are coming to an end. Have about 5,200 miles on them now and have a little left to hit the west bar. The downside, like others have stated, is the front tire is deformed at this point and I’m going to replace both front and rear. I loved the handling...
About an hour into my ride home and saw your post. Just wiped off the oil and tried cleaning. Didn’t see anything come out but I’ll stop every hour to check them.
Trying to watch and see if the front is sagging as I lose oil. Cut a zip tie to length as a measuring stick. Not sure how much I can...
Use Yamaha seals and did a good job cleaning the forks well before install. Used a glove over the top of the tube to push it over.
Definitely will let you know! Going to order new seals today and do it all again :(
So…. Fork seals replaced and I went on a test ride - no leaking. I’m now 330 miles from home and both forks are leaking. Trying to limp home today while stopping to wipe them off as I go (concerned of oil on the front brakes). Hope to make it!
My only thoughts on what went wrong is not seating...
No spring upgrade and no oil weight changes either. Changed all the seals, etc. while it was apart. Oil was dirtier than I expected. My wrench slipped when tightening the fork cap. Next time I’ll have to replace it. Learned a lot along the way though so that was really valuable.
Finished the fork maintenance along with some other stuff (throttle cable and coolant change). Amazed how different the bike feels! The front end feels more responsive and smooth. Thank you for all of the information. I’m didn’t grow up with or have a ton of experience mechanically. The...
