Update.
So it appears to be the Elephant ears on the crank shaft. Both sides on each cylinder have 1 broken crank rod.
NEVER seen or heard of this before..... WOW

Wow! can't imagine what could have caused that? The engine is protected by a rev limiter, so the only other thought is a no oil situation or an extreme metallurgical defect of some kind. Would like to see the photos of the failed parts. Sorry to say that the engine is probably beyond salvaging at this point.

Yes Sir, you are correct. Yamaha Master Tech, is still scratching his head. Like I mentioned in my initial post. No issues with the oil it’s self, (2173 miles since change) apart from the shards and chunks of metal in it now.

They are looking into a stress test to see if the actual parts are faulty to start with ( I assume they mean, they were built on a Friday afternoon lol.
Hopefully, they will find an issue, which means I may not have to pay full cost for a replacement engine, but who knows.

I’d just like to thank everyone who took the time to help out here.

HOPEFULLY this is the case and they can help you out 'wink-wink'..... I don't think Yamaha will ship in a crate motor, but they will send in "the parts that are needed to be fixed"

If your able to get any photos at all, I would really like to look at ANY internal pictures... That would be really interesting.

Wow. Rod failure? Were the teeth on the gear on the crankshaft sheared off, or the teeth on the counter balancer(s)?

This is really an odd failure as i have in my mind's eye, but maybe i am missing something. who would have thought?

I wonder is something else gave way, and wedged it in the gears...but how does that explain crank failure?

Pictures would be great.

Good luck. Let's hope that Yamaha treats you well.

I’ll see what I can do. I plan on keeping the motor, once I source a new one.
I would see what Mother Yamaha thinks about it. They may show some love, which means they will get the parts or engine for you. Such an odd failure, they may want it for analysis at the factory, which means they usually will give you a new engine.

Yamaha has it.

If the balancing gear lost its teeth, and I modified its rotation, it is easy that the connecting rods would have hit the counterweights of the balancer. What if the starter motor failed / broke and this started the teeth breaking?

If the starter anchor bolts are lost or loose ... I think it sets off a cascade of breaks

Sorry to hear this. First I can think of so would be interested to hear if you learn about the cause. (Oil pump failure, metallurgy, etc)

if you pay attention from the second 0.46 ... (in slow motion and using the hole in the chain drive sprocket as a mark), you will see how each piston "explodes" every 720 degrees, but the difference between the two explosions is 540 degrees (obviously by eye , but you can see it) ... and it is easier to understand when Fortnine explains in his video the explosion diagram of a crankshaft set at 270 degrees. It was more or less like this …… PUM — PUM ————- PUM — PUM ————- PUM — PUM
:):)
