mine gets removed every year at the service to do a oil filter changeHi, Guys.
Just wonder do I need to remove Altrider Skid plate to change filter? after fit skid plate, I realize that must be annoying if the skid plate has to be dismount every time.
Does anyone experience this?
Thanks in advance,
WCH
Yes. I've been thinking of the "stud" option, and would likely go that direction if I was doing changes every couple of months. As it is, it's not that big of a deal to remove/replace the plate.. . . . Just wonder do I need to remove Altrider Skid plate to change filter?. . . .
i thought the stud mod was the the 2 big engine mounts at the front that the big ACD skid plate mounts to,the altrider skid plate doesn,t mount thereYes. Yep, I stand corrected. Stud mod for ACD, not sure for Altrider (I have ACD).i thought the stud mod was the the 2 big engine mounts at the front that the big ACD skid plate mounts to,the altrider skid plate doesn,t mount there

Those and Torx head socket/ratchet. But, yeah, the more I do it, the easier it gets.. . . . Using flat, ratcheting box-end wrenches has really helped the process, mostly for final snugging. . . .
Whaaaat?I don’t need to remove mine for an oil change. It hasn’t been off in years
Trying to wrap my head around how you are doing this? There are only 4 bolts that need to be touched to remove the plate: The 2 up top (which are actually nuts if you have done the stud mod) and the 2 bolts that go through the centerstand mounts. Not sure why you refer to "multiple small nuts you have to reach in between the engine and filter". (Unless you didn't realize that the stock centerstand pivot bolts are replaced with bushings from the ACD mounting kit, allowing the use of the centerstand but still enabling the removal of the bolts that go through the centerstand pivot and secure the rear of the ACD plate?)Not sure what this "stud" mod is but my only complaint with the Altrider skid plate is that you have to take the whole thing off to get the oil filter removed. Another 1/2 inch or so and it would've been so easy to change oil! Someone let me know if there's a work-around. I personally think it's a pain in the rear to take off as there are multiple small nuts you have to reach in between the engine and filter to install. My clumsy hands always drop one or two and have to go grab a magnet to find them.
