At times I can be a might thrifty.
A very useful feature of this forum is the ability to acquire lightly used items at greatly reduced prices.
I have the Puig 5568H, purchased used from Arkyrider as he stated. I am thankful, it remains a great value.
It has been on the big white pig since around November last year and all season so far this year and I am quite pleased. It is mounted on an early model of Madstad, incidentally also purchased used from a forum member, with height set so I can see over while seated. I would estimate a clear line of sight ahead at 100 feet more or less. I stand when the surface requires a closer field of view.
The Puig has a light smoke tint, I don't find the tint objectionable and while riding it seems to disappear and is not distinctly noticeable.
I ride with a dark smoke visor in daylight, that undoubtedly influences any windscreen smoke tint affect. I avoid riding in the dark at all. If your eyes don't rapidly adjust to changes in light you may find the tint intolerable at night.
Running vertically there are two fold lines in the windscreen, one each side of center and outboard of the attachment hardware, where Puig intentionally incorporated stiffener bends to minimize deflection at speed. The bends cause a very localized visual aberration. That is just the nature of angular versus curvature changes and is not a defect. Some may find these objectionable. I am ok with them.
Initially with the stock windscreen I was pleased to stay fairly dry in the rain.
Looking for less turbulence I added Yamaha winglets, also purchased used from a forum member. An improvement.
Then switched to the tall Yamaha touring windscreen, again purchased used from a forum member. Did I mention I can be thrifty? More improvement.
Then added the Madstad bracket. This makes an interesting change. I have found I now get somewhat wet in the rain. The rain drops fall out of the airflow onto my visor. I don't remember that before the Madstad.
Then switched to the Puig. Another improvement.
Then added 40mm mirror stalk extenders from CosmoMoto. More improvement.
Each item does make some difference to the air flow.
I am all done making any more changes. For now. It is a motorbike. It is acceptable.
Good Lord can I ramble or what?
I suggest you maybe get yourself an el cheapo light smoke visor and ride with it in all light conditions for a day or two. You can flip it up in a heartbeat if you find yourself momentarily blinded by bright headlights from oncoming traffic.
Then decide if a tinted windscreen is acceptable based on your own personal experience. No big investment if tint is not for you.
All the best.
