Hi all, as an owner of a 1976 DT400 in yellow and black, been waiting for the Super Tenere to come in those colors. But no luck yet. Then I open the September Cycle World and lo and behold, thar' she blows! (the Cannon Ball Ride story). But I can't seem to find it as an available color like in the story. Hoping someone could shed some (yellow) light!

Yamaha was a sponsor of the Cannonball Centennial Run and supplied several Super Tenere's for the ride, including the one that the author of that article rode. They also gave Don Emde, the organizer of the ride a specially painted yellow one to ride. I met him and several of the riders when they stayed overnight in Greenville, IL, very near where I live. Here is a pic of Don with that bike and also of Keith Mashburn, a member of this forum, standing by my bike after he rode it to check out my Gen 2 flash compared to his stock Super Tenere. Notice that he's still smiling. ;D

You can read a bit about the ride on Don's ride site: http://www.cannonballproject.com/content/update-whats-happening/

Yeah, I wish they produced it in the Yellow! My first motorcycle an'85 RZ350 was in the KR Yellow Scheme. Would love all my Yamis to be in that color! Might paint it that way one day…. But that grey has grown on me!

For just a bit of an investment it can be any color that you like. My personal tastes include not caring for matte primer type of finishes, so my new ES was painted in the Euro white color scheme before it was ever started.
