CAn't post a picture as I no longer have the bike, but they attach to the side of the fuel tank just back from the windshield. There are two holes already on the bike (each side) to attach them to. Try googling them (Yamaha side wind deflectors) and they may show a picture of them mounted.

I don't know, it was on the bike when I purchased it. I don't have the bike any longer and I don't remember if it had the extension.

did a bit of digging and if you bought the bike from another member it had extensions or at minimum they had swapped the lines and cables

Actually now that you mention it, he did swap out the brake lines for steel lines.
