Im looking for a replacement engine/motor for my 2013 Model - Super Tenere 1200. Unfortunately this bike was not launched in my country so i had to import it therefore the company (Yamaha) cant help.
I can have it rebuilt but the required parts are not easily available either.
Can someone help?

You should first find out if you can import a used engine into your country. All engines have a number associated with a chassis...importing a new engine is usually easier than a used engine. You should get advice on the legal aspects. There are used S10 engines all over the world, the problem is being able to export it from a country... and the same problem is importing it. You can buy a used engine online with shipping to your country, the problem would be if once in your country, you can collect it from customs

If i can find the required parts in US. I can take care of the shipping issue.
There is one listing on eBay for the crank and its in a pretty bad shape. There are no listings for the a complete engine.

What parts are you looking for?

Are you looking for a short block or long block?

What country are you located ?

What is wrong or broken with your engine?

Can you post a photo of the damaged engine / parts / bike ?

What is your preferred shipping company?

(So everyone has a better idea)

Try to change the way you browse the Internet (try browsing privately), or if you have someone you know in another country, ask them to search for you...you won't believe how much more things appear than what appears to you

Last time I looked on eBay, maybe a month ago, there were two complete 2013 Super Tenere engines. One had been in a fire so the wiring harness and other parts were toast, but probably some stuff was salvageable. The other engine was intact. I believe they were US sellers.

Using a VPN can help you access stuff on the web that might not be easily viewable in your country.

I don't know if bikes are the same, but many times it's cheaper to buy a totaled car/truck/suv for the motor than it is to buy just a motor. Where in these cases the sum of the parts is greater than the whole.

Well, I have a used 2013 engine in my garage still. It has two broken teeth in one of the tranny gears. I was tempted to buy that part and do a rebuild but I do not have 10+ hours of free time to commit too. That is what prompted me to buy another member's bike here, transfer some of my farkles, and sold the rest... well most stuff.

What happened was that I was on the freeway at 80mph and somehow got to neutral and revved real high. I just tapped on the shifter, and it slammed back into gear, but heard the broken tooth rattling around. I eventually got off the freeway but could not get into third gear. It eventually stuck and I towed it the last mile home. It turned on, but I could not shift the gears at all. Opening the bottom is where I discovered the broken teeth on the pan.

I have not considered trying to ship out of country. Perhaps you know a few tricks. I just wanted to let you know I have one. I think the tranny gears is $300 or so. That engine has 150K miles on it.

Oops. I meant to say it's a 2012, NOT 2013.

Saaid, at this point I encourage you to add pictures of what you have including the engine serial numbers. If not, you are likely to not get what you need
