I just put a deposit on a new 2023 Super Tenere that should be ready in a week or so. It's a bit of a gamble never haven ridden one. I live in Western North Carolina and I do a lot of riding on my BMW R1100RS. After a day of riding in the mountains though my wrists and hands are killing me. I really have to put a lot of pressure on the bars. I rode a GS a while back and it was much easier. I'm hoping the Tenere will be too. I wasn't interested in all the drama and expense that can come with owning a BMW so I'm giving Yamaha a try. This site looks like it will be a great resource. Thanks!

Welcome, from Texas. I never took my Tenere for a test drive. I knew what I wanted, and I know Yamaha. (I also have an FJ, 1 son with an FJR, 1 with an R6 and the wife has a TW) And the Tenere turned out to be better than imagined. I think you'll be happy.

I’m with Sierra on this.
I took a huge gamble on buying mine as a second hand not having ridden it with the plan to ride it 2,300km after collection.
I didn’t regret it!

I don't think I was ever that sure about any other bike I've owned that this particular bike was the right one for me. And, 106,000 miles later, I'm still sure.

Living where you live, you shouldn't have any problem racking up big miles. Western NC is some seriously great riding country. If you live anywhere near Waynesville and you ever need service work done on the bike, they Waynesville Cycle Center is a top notch place staffed by great people.

Thanks! Now that I'm getting older and the body is starting to get a little creaky I'll be looking at all the ways I can make the bike a more comfortable, easier ride.
