I did some major for me, off-roading Monday. I had a 3 mile steep out and back filled with water bars and baby head rocks. Great fun! But, I bottomed out the rear end 3x on the decent back down. Got me to thinking what settings on the ES are you using?

I had bags and some stuff, so used the preload with helmet with bag icon then the STD damping setting. It was the most aggressive off-road I had been on, but I did find the bottom of the rear end. Wondering how to best tweak things. I couldn't sort that from the manual.

Thank you!

Using the bike's GVWR of 450lb, I guestimsate 200lbs per helmet and 50lbs for luggage. I've never done actual off-roading, but I would assume more preload would help. Our roads are very uneven and broken. I use a harder setting for rebound/dampening. Seems counterintuitive, but it makes for a smoother ride and the cruise control doesn't self-cancel so I know the tire is staying on the pavement. (my Jeep cruise will sometimes kick off when a wheel leaves the ground)

If serious off road, set it as high as possible. Monitor bottoming out, and back off if possible. I have a zip tie on one of the forks to monitor how much suspension is being used.
