I love F1. DRS and KERS has transformed the racing. Some great battles going in now!!

Slim chance I may make Austin this year. Too soon to tell.

Love F1. Red Bull coming back with Souber exhaust and Brawn DRS in China. This season looks to be a good one. Hope Ferrari can step up. Does anyone think Massa will be there all season? I hope so, but I don't think so. Keep this post alive !!!!

I love F1 as well. Only seen 2 races live... Germany 1989 and Monza 2010. Hoping to go to one this year, and already getting excited about a potential return to Paul Ricard in France for 2013.

The only problem is that with more races each year I find it tough to juggle F1 and motorcycling. Factor in Moto GP and WSB and things get really tricky!

Matt

I love watching F1 cars in action. Still sucks that they don't come to Indy anymore but at least I got to see them. F1 just wasn't appreciated here I don't think. Most people around here only wanted to watch those mobile hillbilly billboards go around in circles and crash into each other. I still get to see MotoGP though. At least for a couple more years anyway.

I really hope that F1 does better in Texas than Indiana. If you're a racing fan and you've never witnessed F1 or MotoGP in person then you're doing yourself a disservice. Make it happen!

I'd like to see the Ferrari's taking it to Redbull this year. Makes things more exciting when there is some close racing at the front.

MotoGP under the lights at Losail Circuit in Qatar tomorrow!!!!! ::012::

Dont know when tickets will be on sale for the GP in Texas - the track is still being built! C'mon boys ... chop chop! :p :p :p

Anyone watched the "Onboard" lap videos from the official F1 site? http://www.formula1.com/video/onboard/

Vettel's lap around Monaco (2011) on the big screen is absoluetly mind blowing - aint no slow hillbilly left hand turn, that's for sure ... ;D

F1 Rules! Been a fan since '81 when I got cable TV. I've only been to one race, the first at Indy.

I got the Senna DVD a few weeks ago. Watched it 3 times now. The 2nd and 3rd time I turned it off when Senna goes to Williams. No need to watch his death again. I saw it happen live (on TV) and it's still fresh.

Lewis has the 5 place grid penalty for having a new gearbox, so that will make things tricky for him.

I would like to see Webber win, and he does seem to be mentally in a better place this season. I am also a Button fan, and I have always loved Schumi too. Nothing like hedging your bets!

Big fan here, I have seen F1 in South Africa, Barcelona, Canada and US, both Indy and Detroit :))

I'm also a big Ferrari fan, maybe I will post a pictures of all my Ferrari toys and I mean real toys not the big ones :D

I hope Ferrari can come back but I don't have your optimism ;)

I understand the track is running behind and it will be 2013 for a F1 race. Is this true? I know its on the F1 schedule for Nov. 18, 2012?

Yep - Austin Texas, 19th race on this year’s calendar.

They'd better get it finished, or Uncle Bernies not going to be too happy! ;D

Wow I had no idea the track was finished. It turned out amazing.

I think if they can switch to Hoosiers the track should rubber up nice. :))

Thanks for the video, that was cool.

That was a pretty awesome race... I really enjoyed the last 20 or so laps.. Im looking forward to Kobiashi getting into a better car one day.. It was also cool to see Nico get his win finally... I was up set that Michaels had to leave the race.. In the replay it looks like they never even got the nut on the front wheel.... that sux.. I want to see him win one more..

What are your thoughts on Massa for the rest of the season, you think Ferrari will keep him to the end ?

Who is going to Austin?

China was a good race - its not everyday you see F1 cars three abreast at the end of a straight!

Looks like Schumacher is up to his old tricks - holding back the pack off the start, letting Nico get a longer lead ... lol ... at least Schui didnt run into anyone :p :p

With the Scuderia Ferrari not all it should be, and Massa's head not being in the game since his Hungary crash, I think he maybe going onto a lesser team (or retire?). Sad but thats competition - lots of very talented up and coming drivers coming into F1.

Whats the deal with Vettel???? C'mon Red Bull ...

Hi,

If I had confidence that Austin is definitely going ahead I would buy tickets and fly out. I am concerned I will book my travel and then no race!

It was a great race yesterday with lots of action through the field. I too was a little disappointed that Michael had to retire because of that mistake in the pit stop, but I guess that is racing. It looked like he could have had a podium too, but it is looking good for Mercedes right now so maybe next time.

As for Felipe, his driving has never recovered since his accident. He was developing into a great driver before that happened, and now he is just not at the required standard. Seems a lovely guy, but I think he will be lucky to retain his seat until the end of the year.

Looking forward to the next one now...

Matt

Great race yesterday. I am looking forward to Kimi's first podium this year. He is the best interview in all of sports!

Kimi Raikkonen back to his mumbling best
By David Tremayne
Friday, 16 March 2012

Kimi Raikkonen took a step towards never being invited to another official press conference here yesterday, proving that two seasons of crashing rally cars has had no adverse impact on his ability to speak Morse code.

Asked how much his driving has changed in the years since he drove for Ferrari in 2009, the mono-syllabic Finn muttered in his finest manner: "I don't know really. I don't think a lot, a little bit older, that's all. It's the same really.

"Formula One really hasn't changed a lot, the car feels pretty similar, the tyres are slightly different but I was expecting to have more difficulties with them but they seem pretty good, especially when they are new – of course they will wear out a bit faster but it's been nice to drive."

Raikkonen, the 2007 world champion, is widely tipped to spring a surprise for Lotus in the first race of the Formula One season.

Team principal, Eric Boullier, said: "It's going to be freaky! Qualifying in Melbourne and the first races are going to be unpredictable. The [Pirelli] tyres are going to make things very interesting. If you push too hard in qualifying then you are going to be screwed for the first part of the race – and if you pit too early it may mean you need to make an extra stop."

Red Bull's Sebastien Vettel is aiming to become only the third driver, after Juan Manuel Fangio and Michael Schumacher, to take the Formula One title three years in a row.

He said: "I'm here to win the championship, so that's the target. Whether it's the third or not wouldn't make a difference. Well, it would but... it would be a nice thing but as I said the reason we're here is to race and to win and the season is long, so there are a lot of races to come."

With the phoney war of pre-season testing over, this weekend we may begin to learn something about the new breed of cars.

Vettel added: "This is the first race, there are many more to come. This track is very different to, let's say, a 'normal' race track, such as the track we have been to a couple of weeks ago in Barcelona.

"It's the first couple of races that will show you a trend. Sooner than that is really not possible."
