But for a high mile rider the extended warranty can be great
my YES warranty is valid on my 2014 thru March 2021, the bike now has 199,003 miles. I have a slight water pump seal leak and clutch slave seal leak that they preliminary said they would cover. I have a 'no start' engine that the shop has found nothing broken. I find out Tuesday Jan 5 what YES will cover. We are thinking ok on the seals but not the engine. so breaks are covered, 'wear' items are not. I'll update with the results.

I have a couple questions
I went to a Yamaha dealer in Punta Gorda FL to find out the options and prices I may get if I buy the YES warranty
I have been quoted for 594 for 2 years and the sales guy said that I am not able to get 48 months because the bike is not new ("Yamaha says") he said to me (Oh I forgot: He asked how many cc is the ST? Really, and you sell Yamahas?)
My bike is a 19' and I have the oem warranty until May 2021
Is that correct, no 48 months available if not new?
Can I get a better deal somewhere else ?
I appreciate your thoughts on this
Thanks a lot
Happy safe 2021!!

I called 5 different shops to check on pricing for a 2 year renewal of the 4 year YES plan. 4 of them quoted $590 ot $594 for the 2 year renewal, one shop, where I bought it, discounted it to $490. If you would like their contact information I would be glad to share it.

He doesn't understand what "renewal" means. You are not renewing your YES, you want to purchase one if you're still on the original 12 month warranty from new bike purchase. The "Renewal" is for owners that previously purchased a 24-48 mo YES and want to add up to two more years. I bought the 48 month YES on my '12, then 'renewed' it for 24 more months, giving me a total of 7 years of warranty coverage overall.

If your '19 was sold new to you or anyone else in May of '21, thus your statement of the OEM warranty expiring in May of '21, THEN you are indeed eligible for 12-48 month YES purchase. If, on the other hand, someone bought the bike earlier and purchased a 12 mo YES, then you would only be eligible for a renewal of up to 24 months.

And $594 would be an ok deal on the 48 month YES purchase, not on a 24 month one. We used to be able to get them for <$400 for 48 months from D&H Cycles in Cullman, AL. They changed hands and I don't know what or if they are back to offering now.

My local to me dealer sold me the 48 Month YES on my '15 for $500 back in '17 when it was still on the original 12 month OEM warranty.

If you don't know if it's under warranty or YES now, call Yamaha at 800-962-7926 with your VIN handy and they can tell you for sure what is available and if the current warranty is in your name or not.

Edit - My 2 year renewal was offered direct by Yamaha and was about $365, but D&H beat that price by a bit back in '16.

Thank for your help
I still have the factory warranty until May21' not the yes warranty
I would like to add Yes for 48 months
I may give a call to D&H on Monday
This dealer in FL I don't think that he has it right, he said that I am not able to get 48 months because we can only buy 48 months when buying new only at that moment

I believe Florida has some laws that will prevent you from being able to buy a discounted warranty for your motorcycle even from a different state.

The dealer you spoke to is confused about the YES offerings, but that doesn't mean you can't help him see the light. Still, their prices suck. You should be able to purchase the YES from any Yamaha dealer. Wish I could help more. D&H used to be The Source, but they recently sold, so I don't know what they can do now. Still worth a call.

That may be the case, but I'd sure call other Yamaha dealers in FL to shop around for a better price if I had to stick with FL due to state legislation. There is a lot of profit built into the YES pricing. It costs them very little, they do nothing except enter it into the computer and they still want to soak customers on the pricing? I was once quoted $1150 for 48 months of YES from a Las Vegas dealer. The cost was a third of that, IIRC, at the time.

Yes, I will make calls to see who makes sense
I see why many dealers go down, they rip off their customers and there is not trust and professionalism on their part
If they rip you off one time, great if not someone else will bite the bait....

I shared with one dealer that the original 4 year YES was being sold for $389 and she was astounded, said that's less than $50 markup, and I believe her. No wonder Renaa and D&H wouldn't do it on a credit or debit card, the card processing fees would eat up about 20% of their profit at that level!

I think I'm done buying the YES warranty anyhow. I've paid for it on four new FJRs and Two new Teneres and the only claims I've had was a new throttle body on my 07 FJR and a rear shock on my 13 Tenere. If I wouldn't have had to replace the throttle body on the 07 FJR I would've been much better off being self insured and money ahead. Yamahas don't break. :)

Up here in Canada, when I bought my new 2019 in July last year I went for the YPP (Yamaha Protection Plus) as it gave me a percentage point off my finance rate. 5 years of no worries worked for me. I was also told that the engine comes with a 160,000KM/20 year warranty so long as:
1.only Yamalube and Yamaha oil filter is used
2. oil change done at every proper interval.

I can do the oil changes myself and still be covered so long as I keep my receipts for the product. Not to shabby.

I thought my 4 year YES coverage was up on the 18th but it's on the 11th - 3 days from now! I called D&H 8x today and was never able to get through. Will be trying again tomorrow.

Has anyone renewed/extended their original YES plan through D&H lately and if so, is their pricing less expensive than what Yamaha is offering directly for the 1 and 2 year renewal?
I am thinking of YES on my bike. I have a 2019 and am asking if you ever used you YES on your ride.

$4500 for a CCT failure on my '12 S10. 5 CCT replacements on my FJR over 100k miles & more It's cheap insurance and no mileage limit.

You can't get cheaper insurance.

Not yet. Found a local dealer who's master Yamaha tech has worked on some S10's so he's not a total stranger to them - he'll be replacing my CCT this Spring under YES and possibly seeing if they will cover the updated clutch basket too (driveability issue angle).

I've got a 19 and the seal in the rear end went out. Shop wouldn't fix it but they had a new one shipped from Japan and installed it free of charge. $389 YES warranty is probably paid for.

Like eric V says, you cant get much cheaper insurance.

I recently bought a Yamaha RMAX (UTV) and I'm looking to buy a YES Warranty for it. Anyone know a friendly place to get one for a UTV? And of course being a Florida resident just makes that more complicated...

As stated, D&H "IS" The Source. $449 quoted for 4 years as of 6/30. No reason not to do it at that price imo. Yes it's a Yamaha and nothing will happen, but things happen.
