So Steve can do a complete valve adjustment and be done by noon, with coffee breaks included. Me, I allow for a couple days. The second one will definitely be quicker, maybe one long day.

Steve - did you keep the OEM CCT, or go with a Graves?

I'm still reusing the OEM for now but I really like the idea of the Graves, That's what I have in my 2012. No way of failure.
With Yamaha updating the Tenere CCT like 4 times I think, They are obviously having a hard time making it work correctly. A freak failure is a destroyed engine.

Adjusting the exhaust shims on the 17 went very easy. For some reason the top cover just came right out without even knocking the gasket loose just off and back on with no problem.
For some reason in the past I have really struggled to get the cover off and back on with the 2012. It's like it needs another 1\2 inch of clearance.
I was able to cable tie the chain to the sprockets and lift the exhaust cam up out of the way change shims and put it all back together without even retiming the cams. Very easy!
I have a very good collection from over the years [I used to adjust a lot of YFZ450s that have the same shims] of them odd size shims, Like 198, 197, 186, so I can really dial in the clearance that I want. [no one ask to barrow my shims, I'm very protective of them]
Yesterday I changed the fork oil, removed the steering head and regreased, pulled the swingarm out and regreased everything. Ready to ride!
